  1. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/did-the-trump-quid-pro-quo-begin-even-earlier-than-we-thought/2019/10/31/404b1b80-fc28-11e9-8906-ab6b60de9124_story.html

Since the story of aid to Ukraine is just now being exposed, there is little wonder that Mulvaney thought that quid pro quo happened all the time. But why was it just now being flagged by the "deep state"? Was the Sept 25 call the first time that an investigation into Biden became the quo?

    1. Of course there’s been multiple pro quos . . .

. . . but as Sondland tried to explain, those pro quos involving Ttump are always, always, always of the “non-corrupt” variety.

Remember, any pro quo that enriches benefits assists Ttump in making him more quid America great again, is a genius tool to make America great again!

(Republican talking point for the first week of November 2019 — coming soon from the lips of a weasel near you)

  2. Trump has committed treason (see Helsinki).
The penalty for treason is death.
Trump loves the death penalty (see Central Park 5).
Trump likes Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage.
Time to execute Trump via the old-fashioned English method: draw and quarter.

      1. The sad part is that Johnson's Conservatives may end up with a parliamentary majority because the leader of the Labour Party is an un-electable hard-core lefty. This is like 1983 in Britain all over again with Jeremy Corbin playing the role of Michael Foote.

The only real chance of Johnson losing is if the Brexiters follow Nigel Farage and vote for the Brexit Party thereby skimming enough votes away from the Tories to allow Labour or the Lib Dems to pick up Tory seats.

Unfortunately, the Tories in Britain are too smart for that, they vote tactically and will not imitate the Jilliots in the 2016 US presidential election.

  3. The swirling vortex surrounding the black hole that is the Trump Sad!ministration (h/t JiD) is drawing in a wider circle of enablers

WHITE HOUSE OFFICIAL WHO HEARD TRUMP’S CALL WITH UKRAINE LEADER TESTIFIED THAT HE WAS TOLD TO KEEP QUIET. WASHINGTON» Several days after President Donald Trump’s phone call with the leader of Ukraine, a top White House lawyer instructed a senior national security official not to discuss his grave concerns about the leaders’ conversation with anyone outside the White House, according to three people familiar with the aide’s testimony.

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman testified Friday that he received this instruction from John Eisenberg, the top legal adviser for the National Security Council, after White House lawyers learned July 29 that a CIA employee had anonymously raised concerns about the Trump phone call, the sources said.

The directive from Eisenberg adds to an expanding list of moves by senior White House officials to contain, if not conceal, possible evidence of Trump’s attempt to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to provide information that could be damaging to former Vice President Joe Biden.

  4. Stellar Wind.
    Panama papers.

nothing happened. no one did anything.
If it or they did – it was perfect.
Could not possible y illegal. Or even questionable.
Others did or are doing it.
    Even if, her emails.

2007 – 2009 it was discovered that the president and other officials had been using a private Internet domain for governmental business and 22 million emails were lost.
Alberto Gonzales, Monica Goodling, and others.

    I have no point.
    It's part of my charm

  5. The Trump contribution envelope that I received has just been picked up by my postal carrier with rocks inside causing a postage expense to the Trump campaign of $2.05.  Thanks to HarryDoby for the idea!

    Resist!

  6. I got a really weird mailer today. It's from Coloradans for Prosperity – Ashley Stevens. It's sole CTA is to vote. Nothing about the propositions or who's running.

It also says I have a grade of B for voting while my neighbors have an A. It's to resident…

      1. Seeing as how I've voted every election since I was 18, I don't think they need to worry about my voting.

And clearly the "B" I got was generic, not based on my or my wife's voting record (she's never missed either).

I'm guessing it was a bulk mail to every address in the area.

    1. Addressed to "Resident"?  Low info mailing presuming that 95% of the recipients are low info voters.  The Colorado Sun has more:

Coloradans for Prosperity, a deep-pocketed group working to pass Proposition CC on November’s ballot, has been sending people a voter “report card” in an effort to boost turnout.

Looks like they don't actually know (or care) about your individual voting records, and gave all your "neighbors" an A so that you will be shamed in only getting a "B".

Colorado’s 2019 general election is on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Turnout thus far among Democratic voters is lagging far behind that of Republicans and unaffiliateds and is also much lower than it was in recent off-year election cycles.

As of Thursday night, 173,891 registered Democrats had turned in ballots compared with 223,504 Republicans and 177,252 unaffiliateds.

In terms of active registered voters in Colorado, 39.69% are unaffiliated, 30.11% are Democrats and 28.43% are Republicans.

Unless there is a late surge of Democratic voters, it looks like we'll need about a 65/35 split with unaffiliated voters to barely break even.

      1. According to the Sec of State 2019 Coordinated Election Ballot Return Reporting of 5 Days Out by Major Party

11/1/2019 (ballots in by Oct. 31)

DEM  206K (30.11%) — tracking 2017 election numbers pretty closely

        REP   262K (38.35%) — ahead of 2017 by about 25,000

        UAF  208K (30.43%) — ahead of 2017 by about 43,000

      1. Davebarnes, back it down a notch or two. They’re just trying to get out the vote, for cripesakes. It’s probably a waste of paper and postage but it might get some of us lazy late-voting Dems off our asses to turn in our ballots.

its not like they gave you false information or tried to suppress your vote like the real Americans 4Prosperity would….I kind of like that Colorado Way of Life / Coloradans for Prosperity is playing the right wing Orwellian game by appropriating the code words of the other side.

At any rate, Ms Stevens doesn’t deserve to be publicly doxxed and called a bitch just for having her name on a GOTV mailer.

  7. Gee, couldn't see this one coming — at least the contractors are making out like, uh, bandits.

Breach in Trump’s border wall: Smugglers are sawing through new sections in a matter of minutes using a popular cordless saw

The breaches — large enough for people and drug lords to pass through — have been made using a popular cordless household tool known as a reciprocating saw that retails at hardware stores for as little as $100.

When fitted with specialized blades, the saws can slice through one of the barrier’s steel-and-concrete bollards, say agents, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the barrier-defeating techniques.

  8. The Bowman’s tale

    Cookie, I’ve

    Been pecking away at

The Bowman's Tale (tune of "the boxer"

    – O –

In the clearing stands a bowman and a farmer by his trade

This noble archer Bowman deftly slays the Trumpfraud's shade

He fights the lie, with an arrow cut from truth

He fights the lie, with a heart that's full of ruth.

They've tried to slay this bowman

    With their damned AR -15

    But his woven hempen armor

    Turns their fusilades aside

And each arrow from the bowman
    flies back straight and clean

    For this noble yeoman Bowman
    Is wrought from farmer’s pride.

He fights the lie, with an arrow cut from truth.
He fights the lie, with a heart that’s full of ruth.

    Take it away polsters

      1. As founder and director of the Trump Stinks Tabernacle Choir I have always fought for Truth. Justice and the abolition of the designated hitter rule.  Only those malefactors who play Wagner on their attack rides fear medevil

    1. Ahhh..thanks, V.  Now all we need to do is get Willie to sing it!

I'm in Alabama this week, just wrapping up the National Black Farmers Association conference.  If you want to be both humbled and blessed simultaneously, this is the place to be.  Wonderful people who can share stories over decades of abuse by 'the system', one even sharing yesterday how a county FSA Director once spat on him – and yet the amount of hope in the room feeds ones soul.

These are the survivors, and its well past time to right the wrongs for those who are left.

In other Alabama news, Jefferson Beauregarde Sessions IV, whose plantation is in the county next to Selma, is quietly working with a group of nice white men to gather up old tobacco ground to grow….hold on….'hemp' (which for the entirety of his adult life he has lumped together with the marijuanas in the War on Drugs People, locking up large swaths of our colored population).

You couldn't make this stuff up.

(unfortunately he's not the first white Republican to try to cash in on this decades-long charade

  9. Time for a monthly update of the Colorado Active Voters.   Measuring change from 11/30/2018 to 10/31/2019,

and, the table doesn’t translate into an “edited” comment. See the next.
