What you can do to fight back this week (July 22)

Earlier today, Vice President Mike Pence arrived in Colorado to host a fundraiser for Sen. Cory Gardner’s re-election in Windsor.

Guess who didn’t show up? That would be Sen. Cory Gardner.

Back in 2014, Gardner falsely accused his opponent of running away from then-President Barack Obama when former Sen. Mark Udall had business in Washington and couldn’t attend a local fundraiser. Today, former President Obama is more popular than Mike Pence and Donald Trump will ever be. Running in Colorado, a state Pence and Trump lost in 2016, Cory Gardner has plenty of reason to avoid Mike Pence like the plague—and that’s before you look at Gardner’s own dismal poll numbers (or, for that matter, his voting record).

Meanwhile, concerned citizens and editorial boards across the state are fighting back against recall petitions against Gov. Jared Polis and state lawmakers. The Denver Post’s editorial board this weekend said it best: “Recalls are not meant to be do-over elections…[t]his summer, if enough people decline to sign these petitions, we can send the message that recalls should be rare and reserved for extreme circumstances, not political disagreements.”

If you haven’t already, take a moment right now to connect with Our Colorado Way of Life and learn how you can help stop these misguided recall attempts cold. We can’t let recent reports that recall organizers are faltering in their efforts make us complacent. The only way to stop these foolish recalls is to take them seriously every time, and fight back like our progressive majority is at stake. Because it is.

Thanks as always for everything you do week after week to help progressive values win in Colorado. Here are more great ways to fight back for the week of July 22:
