  1. Tune in tonight on NBC as Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar fight to represent the Democratic left and center respectively.

Then Thursday, Bernie Sanders defends his title as the Oldest and Whitest man in America against Joe Biden, unless Joe misses the debate for a previously scheduled time to wash and wax his classic 1981 Trans Am..

Kamala Harris will also be there to assure no one pays attention to the seven dwarves.

So, Friday, the field will be down to five.

And we can start getting serious about ousting stinky boy.

    1. You wish the field would be down to five….

With two of the five likely to continue to see an erosion of support in Real Clear Politics averages and lots of others hoping for a "break-out" moment, I'd bet none of the 25 candidates fully quits the race before the July debates, and fewer than 10 leave before they file their Q3 donor report.

  2. Bernie Sanders is using his massive email list to warn immigrants about ICE raids

Hours before President Donald Trump’s administration was set to send out its “deportation forces,” thousands of Bernie Sanders supporters in and around 10 major American cities received a campaign email — but it wasn’t asking for money.

“ICE raids targeting 10 cities start Sunday. Know your rights,” the subject line of a Saturday morning email read. The Sanders campaign used its campaign voter data to send out the same distress signals grassroots immigration advocacy groups typically organize around. Attached to the Sanders campaign email were two graphics, one in English and one in Spanish, with a list of immigrant rights, based on guidance from the American Civil Liberties Union.

    1. Well, if he keeps doing things like that, he might actually get some traction. He's not (never has been) my favored candidate, but good for him. Well done.

      1. Wouldn't it have been a better message to say: "Here's a way to help everyone know our rights"?

Did the Sanders campaign really want to feed the notion that those on his email list are subject to ICE deportation?

        1. Try harder.

The email was addressed from Sanders’s press secretary Belén Sisa, who is herself an undocumented immigrant under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

“Multiple news outlets are reporting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement is planning deportation raids against immigrant families in Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, and San Francisco starting early Sunday morning,” the email, obtained by Vox, reads. “Whether or not you are an immigrant, please share this “Know Your Rights” information widely to help those who might fall victim to the cruel and inhumane policies of the Trump administration.”

This kind of “know your rights” information campaign is the first step for immigration rights groups amid reports of immigration raids.

    1. Welcome to governing 101. Oregon Dems get to choose between governing – aka passing some 100 bills before their session ends – or hoping Republicans will return from their Idaho vacation in time to vote on a climate bill.

  3. Looking for watch party tonight:

  4. With *rump, it's never too soon start f*cking up another pillar of world peace and security, because as any 4-year-old can tell you, "Gimme, gimme, mine!"

There is no American strategic alliance that President Donald Trump won’t seek to undo in the name of … a quick buck? After years of grousing about NATO, this week Bloomberg reportsTrump has been privately musing to aides about upending the U.S.-Japan defense treaty that came out of the wreckage of World War II. The 60-year-old pact saw Japan give up its military in return for security guarantees from the U.S., laying the groundwork for decades of regional stability and economic growth. Seems like a pretty good thing, no?

So what’s Trump’s supposed problem with the treaty? “Trump regards the accord as too one-sided because it promises U.S. aid if Japan is ever attacked, but doesn’t oblige Japan’s military to come to America’s defense,” multiple sources told Bloomberg. It’s almost like he hasn’t read the treaty—or anything at all. The short-termism of Trump’s base foreign policy instincts is going to have a long-term impact not just on American foreign relations but the balance of global power. The repeated bartering of hard-won systemic and institutional advantages and the costs that come with maintaining them for quick, cheap monetary gains don’t appear to be rooted in any grand strategic vision of the world other than “money is good.”
