Romanoff to Make Announcement Today

UPDATE: Romanoff’s announcement? He’s running for re-election. Surprise!?

Speaker of the House Andrew Romanoff will make a surprise announcement this evening, though it’s tough to guess what he might say that would really be a surprise. Romanoff can’t run for the state senate in his current district, and he would need to move into Ken Gordon’s district to run for the senate in a few years if he planned to go that route – and that wouldn’t really be a surprise. Maybe he’s announcing that he got a new dog.

  1. Here it is:

House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, D-Denver, today won the prestigious William M. Bulger Excellence in State Legislative Leadership Award by the State Legislative Leaders Foundation (SLLF) and the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). Speaker Romanoff is the youngest and first term-limited state legislator to receive the award. (press release from the House Dems)

  2. The big announcement was that Andrew won the long-titled award mentioned in a previous post. More importantly with the award comes $5000 that Andrew can donte to any charity of his choice. He chose to contribute the money to Project Hope, a caharity that helps with health needs in under-developed countries. This charity was particularly close to the heart of his recently-deceased grandmother.

This is not “inside scoop”, but merely a reiteration of what Andrew said when he made the announcement.
