A cat -five Trumpstink has been forecast. Duct tape and plastic sheeting is available from FEMA. But stocks of Febreze and Irish Spring are getting low in the Washington area.
Stay upwind, my friends.
In other words, yet another day of national emergency.
One summer, when I was just out of Little League, I saw Bob Feller at a celebrity appearance at some fair in Iowa. He was signing baseballs and photos and then for charity, $10/pitch ($50 for 8) he threw against all comers.
Holee cow! He was in his 60's and that guy was still bringing it. Some guys made contact – but mostly Feller just blew by 'em or froze with some breaking crap. I suspect Nolan Ryan would do the same now in his 70s.
But far more often the aging talent just loses it and can't keep up and is barely recognizable as someone who usta-couldda
It's not about age – it's about talent.
Everyone can decide for themselves which how and who they are.
With a president, it's about guessing the next ten years. Biden already 76, would be 86 if elected and re-elected president. Bernie would be 87. Reagan already showed symptoms of alzheimers in his second term.
You make a very dumb comparison to a pitcher. If a pitcher screws upup, he's pulled from the mound, immediately. Under the Madco rule, you 'd have to start him for the next ten years regardless.
Trump, the oldest man ever elected president is the worst ever elected president.
Do the math.
Biden 76, is too old to run for president and serve to 86. Bernie, 77, is too old to run for president and serve to 87.
Conversely, Nancy Pelosi, 78, is great! But we get to evaluate her every two years — not the ten year leap of faith that we have to make on presidential hopefuls at this point.
Bob Feller lived to be 92 . . .
How old was he when he was president?😉
Not if he takes that money for his border wall.
If President Trump grew an inch – and still has to claim a weight of 234, why bother.
Results I saw said Trump remained the same height and added 4 pounds.
Don't know why he wants to exaggerate height (consistent pictures of Trump and others listed as 6'1" or more are telling) and minimize weight. Reported cholesterol was down to 196 from 223 last year — so there is at least one drug regimen that's working.
Most frequent form of exercise appears to be jumping to conclusions.
Most humorous take on the *resident's condition I've seen this week:
Tim Miller "The President Is Hallucinating and I Think We Should Be Concerned" Subhead: Trump is declaring a fictional emergency to complete a wall he hasn't started in response to an incursion that doesn't exist. It's Wayne Hays in the White House.
It is painful watching the orange moron speaking to the public in the Rose Garden today, trying to make his case for a national emergency. He spent the first 15 minutes rambling about China, Brexit, trade, the economy (which is "great" – so where's the emergency?)
He's trotting out the "angel families" of people murdered by illegal immigrants. (Even though immigrants as a group are more law-abiding than citizens).
It's painful because he is "winging it" and has no idea where he's going, and he is nominally the leader of our country. One of my speech students would have gotten a C- / D on this. He is not making the case for an emergency, and is just talking randomly, trying to fill up time.
This will be challenged in Congress, in the Courts, and is another stroke in Putin's master plan to diminish the United States' standing in the world.
OMFG.
Agree. And it IS important to tie it all back to #Putin. That is who #TrumpsterFire is working for, that is who is pulling the strings. He must be very happy with his obese orange puppet.
Washington Post Pundit 2020 Power Ranking Week 3 is explained by Hugh Hewitt — and you don't need to read that part.
But the top 15 include John Hickenlooper (#13) AND new addition to the list Micheal Bennet (#11). Has Colorado ever had 2 nationally noticed possible candidates in the same election before?
They (whomever is allowing Hugh Hewitt o explain anything…) hope against hope for a corporate friendly president who will tell their (for you, dp😏) constituents to lay down the pitchforks.
It will be interesting to see how many ex-Republicans are willing to challenge the emperor. The former gov. of Mass. is gonna primary the chosen one. Mittens, too…right? Anyone else yet?
No, but the rich and corporations have never had to stare down the face of multiple popular candidates espousing policies from the actual political left before. Colorado grows 'em center-right, apparently.
Maybe–Gary Hart and Pat Schroeder were potential candidates for the 1988 nomination, although neither had much of a chance.
She only flirted with running after Hart dropped out.
She raised about a $1 million before dropping out and traveled extensively for four months. Hardly a flirtation.
Glaf to see you back posting, Old Time Dem. We've missed your perspectives and thoughtful input.
Quoth the emergency declarer: “I didn’t need to do this, but I’d rather do it much faster.” Perhaps less fulsome support for his emergency declaration than he may have thought.
Poderanus, I think she’s talking to you…
Pictured: Ann Coulter talking about Trump scamming his base in that tweet.
She is not happy with his state of emergency? Maybe he'll need to come up with something else.
What can he do to make this woman happy……
Coulter is all in for the wall, and realizes $1.3 billion in the budget bills wasn't enough. She also realizes $5.7 billion he talked about isn't enough. When Trump gave up and signed the compromises (that included things "true Conservatives" opposed), he committed an act of betrayal.
Coulter apparently lives in a land where if you wish hard enough and hold tight to the true doctrine, walls can be built.
Coulter is a cynical, sensationalist entertainer. Whatever gets her the most views and keeps things stirred up is the policy she'll go with. I doubt that she has any actual core principles, other than knee-jerk bigotry.
Much like Donald Trump himself. It's probably why he cares what she thinks.
Capital executes the extortion threat. Billionaire: "I can't win, but pick what I want or get four more years of Trump." The Third Way in its naked glory.
Howard Schultz’ challenge to Democrats: Nominate a centrist for president and I’ll abandon my independent campaign
Why hasn’t anyone ever looked into the link between having large sums of money and dementia in white males?? . . .
“Well, “there are a lot of people that think maybe he doesn’t want to get it. A lot of people think maybe he doesn’t want to know about it. I happen to think that he just doesn’t know what he’s doing, but there are many people that think maybe he doesn’t want to get it. He doesn’t want to see what’s really happening. And that could be.”
Schulz: Vote for me! Because it's worked out so well electing a President who is a business billionaire with no governing experience.
I think Schulz is a paper tiger. He is fundamentally misreading what Americans want. If Democrats cave and nominate a corporate centrist to placate Schulz, we won't be able to repair our democracy, turn around the economy, and slow climate change. Because corporatists' loyalties are to corporations. They can't really see beyond profit and shareholder gain.
No surprise who the real White House advisers are:
