He could deny Unanimous Consent on any number of things if he *really* wanted to make change.
Gardner is voting "yes" to both bills, since neither is expected to pass, thus a cheap "bipartisany" feint. Also, he's offering another empty gesture aimed to score points with local media — a bill to pay furloughed workers. Nice idea, but he kinda skipped an important step:
Sen. Cory Gardner — now one of the deputy whips — knows exactly how many Republican votes will be where in the Senate today. His vote wouldn't be one of the defections if the number was in doubt.
The Trump quotes remind me of when Pols would post Limbaugh quotes for the daily quote. They are so gobsmacking insane that I want to throw my toothbrush at them. What's worse is they come from our president instead of a drug addict.

There are dozens of Coloradans who have been working for decades to undo the profound injustice of the "Split Estate". The governor should take action now…put them to work. He knows who they are.
The question is…is Governor Polis ready to morph into Governor "Petro-lis", or is he willing to take on the brutality that will be heaped upon him if he seeks ANY meaningful change?

Irony died on November 9, 2016.
Just watched the end of SFL Bennet’s floor speech on the shutdown votes. Showed some sincere passion, but still too dependent on being bipartisan with his peers and way too timid in calling out their destructive behavior.
Bottom line: Not presidential…at least not with our current dynamic.
Loved the content and the delivery reminds me why the Senator from CO has reached his political ceiling.

Since I shoveled my block’s sidewalks today I rewarded myself with hot chocolate. Here is how I make it.
12 oz. Chocolate chips
1 cup heavy cream
pinch of salt
Put all ingredients into a microwave safe bowl and melt them at half power. Stop every minute to give a good stir with a spatula. Eventually the chips will melt into the cream making a very smooth mixture.
Cool the chocolate mixture and then scoop it into about 1/4 cup portions. Wrap in plastic wrap then store in a ziplock bag in the freezer. When you want to make hot chocolate unwrap a portion and put it into about 8-10 oz. of milk. Microwave for a minute, stir, let sit, microwave for another minute. Stir.
This is the real stuff only for those who expend calories shoveling snow or chopping wood or something.
Chocolatey! Will this work with non-dairy milk, like coconut cream? I suppose I could find out. Thanks for the idea.
The thing I would worry about is that cream has emulsifiers that keep the cocoa butter from separating out. I do not know enough about coconut cream to say if it would have the same hold onto the chocolate power so that it melts easily.
Sounds yummy, DEN. When we have to shovel or do other things out in the cold, I make hot chocolate with Dutch cocoa, milk, vanilla, and sweetener. Then, I add cinnamon and cayenne pepper. Really warms you up from the inside out.
FYI, that's chocolate ganache.
Put it in the middle of your batter when you bake a cupcake and you have molten chocolate cake.
Daft, I didn't know you cook! I use that mixture to make truffles for gifts at the holidays. Chill it well and scoop it out with a small ice cream scoop. Working quickly, roll the scoops in your hands to form perfectly round balls. Dredge the balls in coconut, chopped nuts, sprinkles or cocoa and set them in small cupcake liners. Then pop them back into the 'fridge to firm back up.
