When I heard that ConocoPhillips was pulling out of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCPA) (1) I immediately worried about their planned Louisville facility. (2)
The USCPA is “a broad business-environmental coalition that had been instrumental in building support in Washington for capping emissions of greenhouse gases.”
The Louisville facility is described as “a ‘world-class,’ environmentally friendly renewable-energy research and training facility.” It is forecast to employ 7,000 people (3) (at full build-out) and to attract a wide range of smaller, innovative businesses.
Does pulling out of the USCPA indicate a weakening commitment to renewable energy and the Louisville facility? I don’t think so. ConocoPhillips plans a heliport, an indication that Corporate HQ people will work there (and pay taxes on high Corporate HQ salaries).

One of the subjects anyway, if not the content or the conclusions.
Conoco Phillips is going to bring a lot of jobs to this state by moving their HQ to Louisville. I grew up in Louisville, and after Sun Microsystems and Storage Tek left town, this will be a big boon for the community.
I like jobs and alternative campuses, even if its Conoco-Phillips. The diarist regularly posts things that read like company press releases.
And how yellowcake uranium is awesome.
CoalCreekWildFire’s pockets must be quite weighted with petrol dollars or ah petrol gold coins.
except for the fact both issues involve renewable energy.
