UPDATE: Incoming Gov. Jared Polis’ vanquished Republican opponent Walker Stapleton sends his regards…from jury duty:

—–

KDVR reporting on preparation and road closures around the state capitol building for today’s inauguration of Gov. Jared Polis:

Polis will be sworn in as the 43rd governor at 11 a.m. Tuesday on the west steps of the Colorado State Capitol.

Most of the road closures will begin at 10 p.m. on Monday night and last until around 8 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colorado State Patrol recommends planning accordingly and avoiding the area.

Grant Street: Two lanes between Colfax Avenue and 14th Avenue
Lincoln Street: Complete closure between 13th Avenue and Colfax Avenue
Sherman Street: Complete closure from 13th Avenue to 14th Avenue
14th Avenue: Complete closure at Broadway to Grant Street

We’ll update this post with coverage, and watch the inauguration live here at 11:00AM.

    1. And he looks so much more at ease. Candidate Stapleton was not a good look for him. It has got to suck to have people telling you what to do to appear more "likable."

  1. Anyone want to speculate why Polis is the 43rd Governor of the Centennial State and Trump is the 45th person (actually, 44th*) serving as President of the 100 years older United States of America?

    * Grover Cleveland is counted twice as our 22nd and 24th president

    1. Rapid turnover — we used to have 2 year terms for our governors

The state constitution of 1876 originally called for election of the governor every two years, with their term beginning on the second Tuesday of the January following the election.[15] An amendment passed in 1956, taking effect in 1959, increased terms to four years

  2. I can't keep track of the knucklehead radio people on the Denver airwaves.
But the theme today was homesexuality doesn't matter

    1992: Amendment 2
    2018: Governor Polis

    Yeah- irrelevant.

And she would move to Idaho if we get even a hint of socialized Medicine in Colorado.

    Buh-bye

    5.6 million people –
    5.1mm insured.

    Of the 5.1 mm insured
    1.4mm Medicaid
    750000 Medicare
    250000 Tricare

So approx half of Colorado insured have socialized medicine.

I'm not going to count the VA or access to military facilities – too much overlap with the insurances above.

But I guess she's going to move to Idaho now. I bet not.
