Michael (never Mike) is so boring. Like watching a school superintendent speak at a board meeting. I would rate him a 1.63 on the excitement scale.
The Dimocrats need someone charismatic who can get all the lazy voters off the fat asses and into the voting queues.
Well, he is under 56. You ask for too much.
I've seen Bennet on fire. He's gotten better at this. I just don't trust him to do the right thing in the crunch, as opposed to saying the right thing when it's politically expedient to do so.
That said, I agree with you, barnes. We do need someone charismatic…but not necessarily someone under your arbitrary age limit.

I was working on something else, and was out on the 538 "Tracking Congress in an age of Trump" site, and was surprised to find Bennet as #28 among Senators in the raw score on agreement, with a 31.0% correspondence. Just above him was Sherrod Brown, at 30.1%. Below him, at 32.1%, Amy Klobuchar. Leader of the pack for opposition? Kirsten Gillibrand, with a scintillating score of 11.9%.
The primaries are going to be brutal, if only for the long list of possible candidates. What's ballot going to be like with 20 or 30 candidates? Vox’s internal tracking document of who is “considering” running for president currently includes 34 names [and didn’t include Bennet]. A week ago, Seltzer & Co. polled for the Des Moines Register/CNN/Mediacom, testing 20 candidates with Iowa caucus goers [including Hickenlooper].
How will we parse out "winners" — those who pull away from the field and get double digits of the results?
John, half will drop out before Iowa because of discouraging poll numbers and lack of money. That culls the herd down to 10 to 15, about the same size as the pack that gave us Donald Trump on the GOP side. There may be a grown-ups table and a children's table at Democratic candidate debates.

Who's excited about Bennet in the D primary (besides Phil Anschutz?)
He isn't at the top of my list but he is much better than several others about whom pols and pundits have been talking.
I’ve been an early and strong sippprter of MIchael Bennet. I think he’s been an excellent Senator representing Colorado. But, I wonder if he still equates MSNBC with Fox News as he did several years ago at a fundraiser.
I equate MSNBC with Fox. I didn't know Bennet did too.
I watch both Fox and MSNBC. In general, they're not equivalent. Fox is more entertainment oriented while MSNBC is more factually oriented.
That’s all I need to know about you. MSNBC is an outstanding media outlet. They use real reporters and real lawyers. Morning Joe ( a former GOP congressman),Dateline Washington with Nicolle Wallace (a former GOP White House staffer), and the 11th Hour with Brian Williams are three excellent programs. Try saying that about any Fox programs.
Shepherd Smith on Fox is generally OK. Unfortunately, Shep doesn't get one of the 3 night time prime spots now occupied by the "Unclean 3" (Carlson, Hannity, Ingraham).
On the other hand, Chris Mathews is an insufferable imbecile and blowhard and Rachel Maddow is prone to 55 minute lead in to 5 minute stories. But Nicolle Wallace is must see in our house– we have her on automatic record.
VG: you can always switch over to Hannity if you don't like Rachel. They're in the same time slot.

You say that like it is a bad thing.
Umm. Kos points out that since California moved it's primary date forward, Iowa & New Hampshire (Feb 3) have become irrelevant. CA's date is after IA & NH, but it is a mail-in state so voters will be deciding and mailing before the primaries in IA & NH.
The consequence is you need to have the resources to play in diverse & expensive California before you receive any benefits from winning in lily-white IA & NH.
Super Tuesday is on Mar 3 including CA, NC, MA, VA & TX which is a shit-ton of primary delegates. That means you need first in one of those and second in several of them.
Only candidates with deep pockets, extensive mailing lists, appeal to diverse voters, and some degree of a nation-wide "movement" behind them have any chance in CA, plus the ability play in NC, MA, VA & TX.
This shortens the long list considerably:

Kamala Harris will win California.
Beto O'Rourke will win Texas.

– ability to build a nation-wide movement,
– extensive mailing list
– appeal to diverse voters
Good post Park Hill. I saw that, too. I’m happy with Bennet as our Senator, but he’s not right for the big show. He lacks inspiration and a diverse (read: black voter) appeal. Stay the course Senator Bennet.
Bernie needs to follow Hillary off into the sunset. Use his remaining time in the Senate. Biden should have ran in 2016. Warren: no way. Harris: not really.
Beto ???? Beto ???? He's pretty liberal for my taste. But he seems to have a solid amount of political common sense lacking in other possible Dem candidates. Unlike others, Beto seems to have a grasp about the deficit and needing to pay for new stuff.
Beto??? Beto??? Will be definitely worth a look from this common sense conservative, especially since the alternative would be to get totally bombed out drunk and then vote for Trump. Hell, I’d vote for Hannity or Pence for president before I vote for Trump.
