  1. What if there is a good guy with a gun?  Well, if he's black, he gets murdered by the cops when they arrive.

Suburban Chicago security guard was killed by police while 'doing his job,' lawyer says

Witnesses said security had asked several drunk men to leave the bar, and at least one person returned to the bar and opened fire, CNN affiliate WGN reported. A bartender was among the victims of that shooting, according to the lawsuit.

After the shooting, Roberson "had somebody on the ground … with his knee in back, with his gun in his back like, 'Don't move,'" Adam Harris, a witness, told WGN.

"We all yelled. 'He's a security. He's a security,' and without … giving any thought, they shot him," Harris told the station. "The vest said security as well, … and they shot him in the side."

The Second Amendment is a white right.

    1. This case is still being investigated and not every word uttered by a tort lawyer is gospel. But it appears to be a tragic accident, a not unusual thing in a chaotic situation.

But only an imbecile or legal ignoramus would call it murder.

          1. How about  criminally negligent homicide or manslaughter then?  Police should have a basic level of competency and we will have to see if this officer's action clear that ridiculously low bar.

            1. Manslaughter is a possibility, but a story based solely on a claim by an attorney seeking a million dollar settlement just might be worth investigating before we write the check.  Cops have two seconds to make decisions that courts then debate for 20 years.  They can and do make honest mistakes — that doesn't make them murderers.

          2. There's a legal definition of murder, but most people aren't talking about the legal definition when they call something murder. If I say a cop is a murderer, I mean they killed someone and it wasn't justified, not that they're legally liable for being charged with murder.

              1. Ok, so, first of all, language is based on usage, so most people using murder to mean unjustified killing does make that a correct definition. Second of all, we do have evidence. Third of all, accusing cops of murder isn't in any way similar to lynch mobs. Finally, it's not ignorant bigotry to think a cop who shot someone murdered that person. Cops have a tendency to do that.

                1. You ain't got no evidence, liar.  You got a short blurb based on a tort lawyer's claims.  And, yes your lynch mob mentality is ignorant bigotry.  I suppose by your logic the fact that people use the n- word a lot makes that okay?  By your logic, the california shooter was a hero and the cop who died trying to save those people's lives  was a murderer.

Remember the law of holes, idiot, and stop digging.

                  1. Given what's said in that, there's plenty of testimony, which is, in fact, evidence.

How is calling a cop who killed someone a murderer "lynch mob mentality"? I'm genuinely curious how you justify this.

By my logic, that people use the n-word as a slur makes it a slur, just like how people using murder not in the strictly legal sense means that murder doesn't only mean the crime, because use dictates meaning.

                    1. You are the one who didn't read the article, ajb.  It is basedc on a lawsuit filed by, who else, a tort lawyer and based almost wholly on that lawyer's claim s.  A lawyer who files a suit claiming d amages because of a tort is, ips o facto a tort lawyer.   And sometimes the facts are a little more complicated that the lawyer for one side claims.

                    2. After that shooting, Roberson "had somebody on the ground … with his knee in back, with his gun in his back like, 'Don't move,' " Adam Harris, a witness, told WGN.

The officer responding to the scene then fired at Roberson, the TV station reported, citing witnesses.

"We all yelled. 'He's a security. He's a security,' and without … giving any thought, they shot him," Harris told the station. "The vest said security as well … and they shot him in the side."

Perhaps you really should read the article. This is direct evidence it happened and it was not justified. A witness says that the cop came in to a security guard who had the shooter pinned down, the cop drew his weapon, the people in the bar yelled at the cop that he's security, the cop shot the security guard. That's a witness speaking, not a lawyer. That is evidence.

                    1. V. All that reporting by WGN and WLS wasn't pulled from the lawsuit.

Bonus points: WGN and WLS are acronyms for what?

                    2. For ajb: don't recall what WGN stands, or stood, for. WLS was world's largest store, because it was owned at one time by Sears, Roebuck.
