Lots of us here have been speculating about how Colorado might be cut up into eight new congressional districts.
Does anyone know of an easy resource before I start putting the Census 2017 population estimates for the cities and counties of Colorado into a spreadsheet and then digging through election data to try to get an approximation of red/blue balance?
By the by, if reapportionment were done using the 2017 numbers Denver would actually have to have 3,000 people put into another district to get it within 1,000 of the ideal 700,894. This may be an even larger number in two years time since Denver has been one of the fastest growing counties in Colorado.
I believe Dave's Redistricting App can handle alternate data sets; put the census data in there, configure an extra district, and off you go. I've never tried this, mind you, but there's at least one other person trying it for other states.
Now I just need to find a computer I am willing to have silverlight on. I wonder if my old Windows 7 box might still work…
