Here’s a really unfortunate photo op featuring Bill Schuette (pronounced Shoot-EE), the Republican candidate for Governor in Michigan:
Rep. Tom Cochran, a former chief of the Lansing Fire Department, sent out a statement slamming Bill @SchuetteOnDuty for this photo taken in front of a burning building. “When first responders like firefighters are distracted it puts the public safety at risk,” he said. #MIGov pic.twitter.com/BIIT3KUVZu

Nobody thought this might be a bad idea? Nobody?

Isn't it a training exercise? not that big of a deal if so
My thoughts, too.
It would have been more appropriate if they were standing in front of a burning dumpster.
Not knowing the story at all, but the lack of ANY streams of water going in and the dress uniforms on front row fire personnel hint there is no concern about "distraction."
Why Schette is getting a shiny fire helmet may be a story. But it isn't like he was buying his own fire helmet with a discretionary fund or something like that.
It's a weird picture that provides no benefit to the candidate.
Kind of reminds me of the Bob Beauprez TV commercial where Both Ways was in the barn literally standing next to a horse's ass. The optics were not good.
