The ad you see above, produced by an independent expenditure committee backing Democratic Attorney General candidate Phil Weiser, received an intense pushback from Republican George Brauchler via social media today:
As ballots land in mailboxes today, @pweiser’s #DarkMoney group pushes out knowingly false ads accusing me of positions I have not taken. I’m looking forward to the Professor denouncing them for their falsity. #copolitics #COAG
— George Brauchler (@GeorgeBrauchler) October 16, 2018
The ad accuses Brauchler of supporting the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, one of the logical consequences of which would be the end of the ACA’s requirement that pre-existing conditions be covered. Brauchler objects strenuously that he hasn’t taken a position on the ACA, but that’s simply not accurate. Here’s what Brauchler himself said about the ACA when he was a candidate for governor–of course no longer online now that he’s running for attorney general:
Coloradans deserve access to patient-centered healthcare and affordable premiums. Obamacare must be repealed to make this happen. [Pols emphasis]
Folks, you can’t have this both ways. If you support repealing the Affordable Care Act, you support repealing the coverage mandate for patients with pre-existing conditions. Any attempt to doublespeak this reality is misleading, as we’ve seen over and over when Republicans in Congress tried and failed to repeal the law. If George Brauchler does not support the lawsuits by Republican state attorneys general to overturn the ACA, that’s something he could easily clarify for the record. It would be a contradiction of everything he has previously said about the Affordable Care Act, but he could do it.
The fact that Brauchler would rather cry foul than clarify tells voters all they need to know.

I assume Broccoli thinks this fig leaf will cover all pre-existing conditions:
The GOP strategy is clear: 1) create the problem, 2) devise a bogus solution 3) make sure they profit and everyone else gets screwed, oh and don’t forget 4) claim victimhood when exposed
This fucker needs to lose.
He needs to lose brutally and embarassingly. I would love to seem him driven from elected office. He is unethical pariah.
It is amusing to see Bauchler refer to Weiser as "the Professor" as an anti-intellectual dog whistle, and in the same sentence use the overly former and pretentious "denounce the falsity." He is tying himself in knots trying to sound smart while still appealing to the Trump base of his party. Either that or it is a reference to Gilligan's Island that I do not understand.
Will the wealthy and educated ever take their party back from "regular folks" as the current crop calls itself. Ah, for the good old days when Republicans thought of themselves as the elites.
Why would George Brauchler expect a basketball player ("Grayson "The Professor" Boucher (born June 10, 1984) is an American streetball player and actor.") to say anything about campaign ads?
Has anyone asked him about the ethics of Wayne Williams buying personal clothing from his discretionary fund?
I'm on the road a lot so I enjoy the times when I catch up with our local paper and see what's happening in our little town. The exception to that rule is the weeks when the inner-fold is dominated by Capitol Review which can't go a single paragraph without a handful of wing-nutter buzz words.
This weeks blue plate special is titled Polis health care doesn't add up and the author, Mark Hillman, once again didn't disappoint. Did you know that Canadians are dying from their socialist health care policy?!? That PolisCare = PelosiCare? That we're about to double the cost of state government? Bernie Sanders Democrats, progressive/socialist wing, platitudes, Progressive doctrine (as he's typing his column on a computer powered by his rural electric cooperative, one of the most progressive/socialist entities on the planet). It's a virtual wing-nut buffet.
I tried posting this earlier with an embedded link to his website but it (ironically) saw the posting as spam. If you're interested in what a minority of Coloradans are being fed by their leadership on health care (or more specifically how they have no plan other than to throw darts at Dems) hop over to MarkHillman (dot) com and take a gander.
