  1. Good afternoon, Realist and y'all.   Hey, it's always 5 p.m. Somewhere!

And any time, any place, Trump still stinks.

Now, on to business.  Have you boofed yet, Cornholio?

    1. I'm sure he has.  When one does time for your activities at a destructive White Supremacist rally, like the one in Charlottesville last year, and they're like our Cornholio, they tend to become somebody's bitch in prison.  He probably did boof under duress from his cell mate and other tougher prisoners. After all Cornholio's more of a wimp than the Crying Nazi from that rally was.

          1. I get it. All guys and some women make these jokes about other men. But I've met male sex assault survivors, and they endure even greater pain and shame because they were supposed to have been able to fight off their assailant better, being men and all.

Consider that at least before you make another "Don't drop the soap" joke.

  2. Huffington Post has a solid if disturbing story about near collapse of Lamda Legal, the nation's premier legal fund for the rights of about everyone.   I can't link from an Amazon fire, but just google Huffpost Lambda.

      1. Which is very unfortunate given the onslaught of litigation coming through the courts on transgender rights and so-called religious liberty legislation (a/k/a homophobic bigotry in the name of God).

  3. Paul Krugman on the GOP's latest campaign tricks

Goodbye, Political Spin, Hello Blatant Lies

Black is white, up is down, and Republicans are defenders of Medicare.

The true Republican position on health care has been clear and consistent for decades: The party hates, just hates, the idea of government action to make essential health care available to all citizens, regardless of income or medical history.

Why do Republicans think they can get away with such blatant lies? Partly it’s because they expect their Fox-watching followers to believe anything they’re told.

But it’s also because they can still count on enablers in the mainstream news media. After all, why did USA Today approve this piece? Letting Trump express his opinion is one thing; giving him a platform for blatant lies is another. And as fact-checker Glenn Kessler of The Washington Post put it, “Almost every sentence contained a misleading statement or a falsehood.” Even the president of the United States isn’t entitled to his own facts.

So will the G.O.P.’s Big Lie on health care work? We’ll find out in a few weeks.

  4. Here's how Republicans are stealing the election in Georgia:

…under the guise of “voter roll maintenance,” (SoS and gubernatorial candidate) Kemp’s office has canceled more than 1.4 million voter registrations since 2012, and nearly 670,000 registrations in 2017 alone, ostensibly to guard against voter fraud. Further, 53,000 new voter registration applications are “on hold” at Kemp’s office.

In part, this is because of an “exact match” voter verification program that Georgia’s Republican-controlled government enacted last year, which flags registrations that have even minor discrepancies with official records, like a dropped hyphen in a last name. The A.P. reported that almost 70 percent of the registrations that are now on hold are for African-American voters.

“None of these schemes or tactics or new policies would have passed the smell test,” she said, adding, “What we are seeing in Georgia is the clearest evidence that states in the South that were subject to the Voting Rights Act are moving quickly to turn the clock back in ways that harm minority voters.”

That will make it easier for Republicans to keep getting elected in these states. Once in office, they will help to put more conservative judges on the federal bench, who will make it harder still for Democrats to vote. The never-Trump conservative David Frum has written: “If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.” In Georgia, they already have.

As the article indicates, these are the new "Jim Crow" laws enabled by the Roberts Court invalidating key parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 "because racial discrimination is over"

      1. CHB — they aren't whining.  They are fighting for their freedom and right to vote.  The Secretary of State who is now running for Governor saw Democrats organizing, and is using his office to ensure they don't vote.

Kemp knows this as well as anyone; four years ago, he warned a meeting of Republicans about the New Georgia Project, a voter-registration initiative that Abrams founded while serving as Democratic minority leader in the Georgia House. “Democrats are working hard, and all these stories about them, you know, registering all these minority voters that are out there and others that are sitting on the sidelines, if they can do that, they can win these elections in November,” he said.

          1. Huzzah for your comradely fighting spirit, CHB! In that spirit, I have a walklist with your name (C H Banger) on it, so that you can help "organize and get even"on behalf of your true political party.

Come on up to Morgan County and hit the doors with us – I promise you plenty of conservatives to talk with.

You can even tell everyone you meet not to be complacent. I'm sure they'll all appreciate hearing it as much as I do.

            1. Nice try MJ. But I don’t do that kind of on-the-ground activity in my volunteer work. I work exclusively with several non-profits, all of which are C3s, which means no electioneering.
