  1. Tune: Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road

    -0-

Donald Trump is an odious toad.

Donald Trump is an odious toad.

Donald Trump is an odious toad.

    Stinkin' to high heaven.

    (repeat)

    1. Elizabeth Warren is NOT a KOOK. She is a Communist. Her “eminently sensible bills”, are straight from the desk of Vlad Putin, totally outside the Constitution. But hey, what do Democrats care about the Constitution…..”absolutely nothing”. And you worry about Trump, “come on man”.

Warren should be the Dem candidate for President. MGGA…..Make Government Great Again.

      1. Roger, Roger, Roger……I really thought you were brighter than that.

You are starting to sound more like Moderatus and less like a relatively-intelligent right winger. I think I liked you better when you were doing your pedantic Alphabet Soup shtick:  "B" is for Believer, "M" is for Mexico, "UCC" is for Unindicted Co-Conspirator.

And now you are confusing Communists with Putin.

        1. I will want to read the Warren bills in greater detail. However, at first glance, they don't appear "eminently sensible" to me.

Considering the “Russian asset” currently occupying the White House, I would not automatically consider Warren to be a "communist." That is too much of an easy way out. Get the new book about Trump's alleged long term dealings with the Russian mafia (House of Trump. House of Putin).

I am curious as to why Trump has never directly criticized Putin. Trump has been hesitant to spend appropriated dollars to strengthen our electoral security. Trump groveled and scraped before Putin in Helsinki; a performance called "disgusting" by none other than Fox News Business Editor, Neil Cavuto. Why did Trump do that? Not a single White House aide was in the private meeting with Putin in Helsinki. What was said? Many, many unanswered questions here that I hope Robert Mueller is investigating..

  2. Rats abandoning the Trumptanic!

The tabloid executive David J. Pecker has been granted immunity by federal prosecutors investigating payments during the 2016 campaign to two women who said they had affairs with Donald J. Trump, a person familiar with the investigation confirmed on Thursday.

Mr. Pecker is chief executive and chairman of American Media Inc., the nation’s biggest tabloid news publisher, best known for its flagship, The National Enquirer.

He is close to Mr. Trump and the president’s former lawyer and fixer, Michael D. Cohen, and had been integral to a campaign effort to help protect Mr. Trump from embarrassing stories about women as he ran for the presidency.

    1. And the Enquirer's professed reason for refusing to run the stories about the women and Trump after it bought the rights to the stories was that the Enquirer could not corroborate the salacious details and was concerned about its reputation and credibility.

  3. Now that Trump is openly accused of a felony, Jeff Sessions finally sees the writing on the wall and grows a spine.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions pushed back against President Trump’s recent attack on him — namely that Mr. Sessions never took control of the Justice Department — and said on Thursday that he would not be influenced by politics in the job.

“While I am attorney general, the actions of the Department of Justice will not be improperly influenced by political considerations,” Mr. Sessions said in a rare public statement.

Trump's whimpers continue as he too sees he's in deep doo doo

“It’s called flipping, and it almost ought to be illegal,” Mr. Trump said of Mr. Cohen’s deal with the government. Mr. Trump said the campaign finance crimes Mr. Cohen pleaded guilty to were “tiny ones,” or “not even crimes.”

Mr. Trump said the years in prison that Mr. Cohen faces were too daunting, and “in all fairness to him, most people are going to” take a plea bargain. Mr. Trump added, “I have seen it many times. I have had many friends involved in this stuff.”

Or, as Mr. Trump said, “They flip on whoever the next highest one is, or as high as you can go.”

Yeah, funny how that happens to folks around Trump all the time.  Guess that's why they call it a crime syndicate.

    1. The start of a trend is hard to spot in the noise.

A Fox News poll found that 59% percent of Americans approve of Mueller's investigation into collusion with Russia. This is up from the 55% found in June and the 48% in July. The thing is lots of other polls show no trend or contradictory results.

I think it is too soon to be saying that attacks on the probe are becoming ineffective as the Washington Post does while using weasel words like "could" so they can say if this proves not to be a trend that they were cautious or something.

The whole thing is like organizing a mutiny on a pirate ship. Everyone knows the Captain is incompetent and likely to get a lot of the men (politically) killed. The problem is that mutiny is almost never rewarded and no one wants to be a leader and identified as a possible turncoat. Safer to stick it out under a bad Captain and hope to be one of the lucky ones or to take the risk and get it over sooner? And there are the Captain's loyalists in the crew. A fight between the crew could get the ship seriously damaged and there is the USS Democrat not far off and it is almost time to close for action anyway..

We won't know if this is trend or noise for at least a month. If it is a trend everyone will be saying so then, but if it is not everyone will be very quiet about the signs that were there in August.

    1. Trump told his first lie as the incoming, and almost, president on January 20, 2017 when he falsely swore to uphold the US Constitution.

Hard to do that “upholding” when one is a Russian asset.

    1. They made an oops.

DNC says suspected hack attempt turned out to be a security test

What the Democratic National Committee this week thought was an attempted hack of its valuable voter file turned out to be a security test organized by a state party, unbeknown to the national organization.

The committee on Tuesday alerted the FBI to a fake online portal it thought had been set up as an elaborate attempt to trick DNC staff into giving up their log-in credentials — through a hacking technique known as “phishing” — as a way to gain access to the party’s VoteBuilder database.

Late Wednesday night, DNC Chief Security Officer Bob Lord reversed course. “We, along with the partners who reported the [fake] site, now believe it was built by a third party as part of a simulated phishing test on VoteBuilder,” he said in a statement.

        1. That how it works, M.J. It's like any software. After it's built, the first thing the engineers do is hand it off to a co-worker who wasn't on the development team so they can try to "break" it. If someone in-house can damage it, it's for certain the client will manage to. So all of those flaws in the design are tweaked before it ever leaves the site.

  4. So it turns out National Enquirer's parent, American Media, Inc. is owned by a New Jersey hedge fund that received significant public pension fund money under (then) Gov Chris Christie.

Three things are becoming increasing clear:

1: This is a good ol' boys club

    2: You're not in it

3: Trump having a 'very good friend' named David Pecker may be the best thing on the interweb

      1. Is there a word for beyond incestuous?  Will it be discovered that Jared's father is actually a secret lover of Christie? That Jared is the love child of David Pecker?  The National Enquirer headlines write themselves – and the hedge fund dude laughs all the way to the bank as Moddy buys up every copy in the grocery story checkout line to keep the secrets quiet!
