Trump Cancels his fawining parade due to high price tag.
Sorry MAGAts, no DC stinkfest for you this year.
What? No "Triumph of the Will" extravaganza? Bummer.
I think that would be "Triumph of the Wall". Oh, wait. He's not gonna get that, either.
The reason D.C. said the parade would cost $92million is that they allowed $85 million for Febreze and gas masks for spectators downwind of Donald Trump, who stinks.
Great God Almighty, Trump stinks!
I see the Great Orange One spun this loss to say, “Great! I can buy more fighter jets!” We’re well beyond “one nut loose” territory.
Actually, $93 million won't even buy one new F-35 fighter. Under Trump the price has climbed to $160 million a copy — and climbing.
But what is the cost of Trump's F-52?
And have the same creative group come up with a vehicle for the Space Force?
Always a good idea to start your morning with Josh Marshall:
There is a new book out by an author named Craig Unger. Title is "House of Trump. House of Putin." The book explores, in depth, an alleged 30 years of tie-in and money laundering between Trump and the Russian mafia. Putin came in likely in the 1990s, before he became Yeltsin's anointed successor in 2000.
In 2016, Russia succeeded beyond their wildest dreams in getting an asset into the White House.
Stinky is going to bloom again. I was at the Denver Botanic Gardens on Tuesday and noticed the bud on the giant corpse flower. The Denverite had an article the same day about the expected bloom.
https://denverite.com/2018/08/14/denver-botanic-gardens-corpse-flower-stinky-is-likely-to-bloom-again-this-fall/
The garden staff say that it will be blooming sometime in mid-September.
Just for you, V.-I think the flower should be renamed a Trump Blossom. Tell him a rare and beautiful flower has been dedicated to him. Just don't tell him it reeks to the stratosphere.
Apparently Omarosa is going after other members of the Trump family…..

In other news, the federal 2018 budget deficit is projected to be about $800 Billion. Over $1 Trillion in 2019, assuming there is no recession or increase in interest rates, which would make it much worse.
The daily fire hose of crazy has taken our eyes off the real problems we are facing, IMHO.
File that one under "things I'd much rather never imagine".
Fair Districts Colorado (FDC) has a very persuasive mailer that just hit mailboxes in my medium pink precinct today. If I wasn't a political geek who reads blogs, I would totally vote for a redistricting commission made up of "4 Republicans, 4 Democrats, and 4 Independents" that the League of Women Voters endorsed.
However, I do read blogs, and find that "Fair Districts" is heavily weighted on the Republican side. The League of Women Voters is nowhere near as "strongly supportive" of this initiative as FDC publicity suggests, either.
As I commented earlier, "Fair Districts" backers tend to be corporate and Republican lobbyists; no grassroots voter advocates or minority groups such as the NAACP , Mi Familia Vota, or Common Cause are represented on it.
But will regular voters know that? Probably not. My guess is that the voters will pass this; and we will be stuck with another epic redistricting battle for decades.
FYI – the mailer is from Fair Maps Colorado, not Fair Districts. Fair Maps is the committee for Amendments Y&Z, a bipartisan compromise agreement that is supported by right and left alike.
Y&Z were referred to the ballot by legislators 100-0. ACLU, Common Cause, Mi Familia Vota, NAACP all have endorsed both Y&Z!
Check out http://www.fairmaps.co endorsements and you'll see it runs the political spectrum! Establishes independent commissions to redraw boundaries for both the state legislature and Congress.
