Cory Gardner Praises Trump, Disses Obama, Downplays Russia

  • by: Colorado Pols

We were forwarded a clip of video from this morning’s episode of FOX and Friends, the notoriously pro-Trump propagandist morning show famous for having a direct line to President Donald Trump–who is said to personally watch the show every morning.

Today’s guest? Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado. The subject? Trump’s foreign policy.

And on FOX and Friends, with a golden opportunity to make good on his many promises to “hold Trump accountable” on foreign policy and the President in all likelihood personally tuned in–what do you suppose Gardner did?

You already know what Cory Gardner did. Cory Gardner sucked up to Trump.

KILMEADE: Senator when they used to have battles in the old days, the generals would lead, they used to be on the front lines. Isn’t that kind of the way the President’s doing things? He leads, and behind him is Pompeo, Mattis and Bolton. Should we get used to that?

GARDNER: I think that’s exactly the style that you’ve seen from this President, whether it’s Kim Jong Un or whether it’s Vladimir Putin. [Pols emphasis] But again, I, I don’t think, you know remember what happened over the last eight years. You had, you had a President Obama who said to Mitt Romney, uh, ‘the 80s are calling they want their foreign policy back.’ And now we see Russia taking this center stage role that the Democrats denied for the last eight years. It’s pretty remarkable.

KILMEADE: Right. Senator, great job, thanks very much.

This is the same Sen. Gardner who received undeserved glowing headlines immediately after the Helsinki summit for “calling out Trump,” remember? In truth, Gardner hadn’t done much more than he did on FOX and Friends today, shifting to criticism of President Barack Obama as fast as he possibly could after the briefest acknowledgement that Russia was not the friend Trump insisted they are.

But inside the friendly confines of FOX and Friends, Gardner can dispense with even the appearance of displeasure with Trump, and give the Republican base the unadulterated red meat they’re looking for! Trump “leads from the front lines”–and you can tell because of how well things went with Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin!

Okay, but please never ever tell us again how Gardner “holds Trump accountable.”

Because that is demonstrably a load of crap.

  1. What the heck does this mean? " And now we see Russia taking this center stage role that the Democrats denied for the last eight years. It’s pretty remarkable."

Why would a foreign adversary taking center stage be a good thing?

What is the benefit of close affiliation with a nation that has the 12th largest GDP instead of bettering relations with the EU (#2), Japan (#3), Germany on its own (#4), the UK on its own (#5), France (#7), Italy (#9) and Canada (#10)?

    1. Bill Clinton going up the stairs to meet with the Attorney General Loretta Lynch forced her to recuse herself and pretty much destroyed Obama's ability to alert folks to Russian interference.  Of course Cory would have been one of the first to shout rigged if he had.  Gardner goes on the clock Nov. 7th.

  2. Does anyone know if he really believes the sounds that move through his lips or is he professionally detached from his pronouncements?  Inquiring minds want to know if he really sincerely believes what comes out of his mouth.  Seriously Cory?

      1. I don't know which is scarier: That he really really believes this bullshit ideological extremism or he knows it's phony as Trump's fidelity and he is hoping that voters are too stupid to not know a con job when they see him.  The good news is that after cleaning Trumps balls with his tongue for four years, he is going to be in for some scathing ridicule when he presents himself as a moderate in 2020.  We will also know by then because of his vote for Kavennaugh that he really is a woman hater.  What a horrible excuse for a statesman but what would you expect from a toady acolyte of Marilyn Musgrave.

    1. Trish Zornio (exploring a run against Gardner in 2020) says that Cory intentionally misleads people. He deliberately distracts and uses his charm to avoid controversy and getting pinned down on policy specifics.

So – Cory laughing to himself about his quest to "fool some of the people some of the time" would be my guess.

    2. "Believing" is kinda irrelevant, honestly, GG.

I got to know Cory when he was a freshman state legislator. He was shallow and greedy then, and nothing has changed. Cory believes all those people who blow smoke up his ass and tell him how great he is. I know many musicians like that.

Cory "believes" whatever is necessary at the time. If he says it, it must be true.

        1. That's offensive…..to Josh Penry.

I realize Penry is no great prize, but I'd say he has marginally a little more integrity than Gardner.

          1. My eyesight isn't that keen…

Had Penry not fucked up the Speakership worse than anyone in history (except Frank McNulty), he would be ass deep in Koch Money and a T***p mouthpiece.

He did take a stand against the O&G industry once…but for the wrong reasons.

      1. Several of the Indivisible groups (Greeley, Colorado Springs, Longmont) have copies of Cardboard Cory. He circulates around as needed, and is ever so much more to the point and helpful than his flesh and blood alter ego.

Just contact your local Indivisible chapter and ask about a loan of a cardboard Cory.

If you join and post on the Facebook group Hold Gardner Accountable, someone will tell you where the closest available Cory Cutout is.

  3. I wrote to him about the President's performance during the press conference with Putin; I got a namby pamby response about the importance of fair and free elections.
