  1. Perhaps we can have a bit of populist justice, since the Senate appears ready to confirm.  Cue the music …

"Oh, hi! Is Miss Otis Haspel in?"
"Miss Otis Haspel regrets she's unable to lunch today, …."

    1. We should get this over with. Viva the revolution! Viva Bernie! Via Zappy and Dust Puppy and MJ! Viva the resistance!

After we go through a rehash of 1972, or 1984, or 1988, someone sensible can rebuilt the party so we nominate someone electable in 2024.

      Free Stuff For All!

      1. Of course, that gives us eight years of fascist judges appointed to lifetime posts in the federal courts. But who cares?

Free stuff!  Must have free stuff!

        1. But at least we will be pure and principled unsullied by compromises with Corporatist Democrats and/or DINOs, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, Michael Bennet, and oil & gas.

          1. No one is advocating free stuff*.

We are advocating for the Rich to pay their Fair Share (once again) and for a more robust investment (once again) in society's clear needs and the common weal. (How dare R's and Trump have a chance at a 3rd Infrastructure Week, when it was Ronald Reagan and Republicans who began the systematic dismantling of our infrastructure as the impetus to start funneling all of America's profits and salaries to the 1%?)

Why don't Rich Conservatives want to invest in America?

Oh, and by the way, though the Coward Michael Bennet shall remain standing, fuckoff DCCC, fuckoff Bernie-haters, and fuckoff Corporatists.

            1. Except your way of trolling only serves to make sure that what you believe in does not happen AT ALL!!!

You harp on Bennet while Cory Gardner's only solution for mass shootings is more body armor for police officers but no protections for kids, or other bystanders.

            2. I’m gonna’ go out on a limb here and guess that the car I followed into work this morning, with both “Michael Bennet” and “Bernie Sanders” stickers, wasn’t being driven by you?? . . .

              1. By the way, this hard-left vs. center-left business is probably not going to cost the Dems control of the U.S. House. Dems will probably have a net gain of a dozen House seats.

Where the problem will be is California where a half dozen winnable seats will be lost because there will be no Dem on the ballot in November because too many ran in the primary and Repubs were smart enough (rare occurrence) to run one or two candidates per district.

      2. Seeing your bait. Passing it up.

If you ever have something of substance to say, including an actual quote from one of the posters you're so happy to mock, then we might be able to have a decent discussion.

Until then, it's just Kabuki, and bad Kabuki at that.

    2. I think you need to define "far left". Click-bait headlines are not known for being accurate.

I'm pro union, and I'm in favor of public education, public roads, social security, medicare, medicaid, obamacare, the EPA, public scientific research, public police, etc.

Does that make me a socialist?

      1. The article describes the sort of candidates that it believes are displacing moderates in some races.  I didn't post it because I think it's "true." I posted it, as I noted, because I think it's interesting.  Interesting what the Post writer considers to be the "far left."  Interesting to see if these candidates will win in their races.  Interesting to see how the party apparatuses, like the DCCC, will participate in races where the candidates they backed pre-primary are out.

        1. After the Illinois primaries, there was a narrative that the more centrist Dems were making a comeback.  The articles tend to be too knee-jerk and surface-level.

        2. I think you run candidates who match the district. The Dems can run a God damn socialist in CO CD-1 or CD-2 and he/she would would be able to win. Probably not so well in other places. Likewise, the Dems would be foolish running someone like Connor Lamb in CO CD-1 or CD-2.

      2. Levi Tillemann believes estates more than about $15 million should be taxed at nearly 100%.  (He told me so twice.)

I think that makes him a socialist.  Do you agree?

      3. In today's Democratic party, that makes you slightly right of center.  I'm for everything you're for, plus a reasonable ration of lgbt rights and I'm considered moderate to conservative.

    3. One of the chief contests used in the The Daily 202 article on the "far left" is "Kara Eastman, 45, beat former congressman Brad Ashford, 68, in an Omaha-area district."

The facts that Ashford, a one-term former Congressman, lost the 2016 election to the present incumbent, that Eastman has been active and visible in the District while Ashford was licking his wounds, that he is more than 20 years older, and that she is, well, a she, seems to be overlooked as possible elements of the win.

      51.4% to 48.6% isn't a huge margin.

  2. Bill Aimed at Saving Community Banks Is Already Killing Them

[B]anking industry analysts say the bill is already having the opposite effect, and its loosening of regulations on medium-sized banks is encouraging a rush of consolidation — all of which ends with an increasing number of community banks being swallowed up and closed down.

“We absolutely expect bank consolidation to accelerate,” Wells Fargo’s Mike Mayo told CNBC the day after the Senate passed the deregulation bill in March. The reason? Banks no longer face the prospect of stricter and more costly regulatory scrutiny as they grow. And regional banks in Virginia, Ohio, Mississippi, and Wisconsin have already taken note before the bill has even passed into law, announcing buyouts of smaller rivals.

    Thanks Senator Bennet!

Oh, I've seen folks here talk about a public bank in Colorado.  As the article notes, this is what one is for.  The public bank wouldn't do retail (regular people) banking, it would use the state's money to back lending.  It could also use the state's money to back local government deposits, which most smaller banks can't take, allowing local governments to bank locally and some of that money to be invested locally.

      1. Well, maybe in the FAKE service dog industry.

The real industry requires actual work and sustained effort, and a willingness to work with a wide diversity of people.
