    1. If he were alive today, Trump would be rage-tweeting against him.

In life, MLK was a radical activist who was hated by most of the country. He was assassinated when he started to become effective in labor rights and speaking out against the Vietnam War. Now his reputation has been sanitized and distorted.

Kids are also not taught much about the civil rights movement, or any American history post – WWII. So there are middle schoolers who believe that MLK fought against "slavery".

Part of honoring MLK's legacy is to tell and teach the whole truth about him.

        1. I'm starting to like the idea of President Hickenlooper. I'm guessing Trump will come up with a nickname that plays on Hick's quirkiness.

    1. I wondered that myself. My wife has a bad habit (IMHO) of watching the crawl at the bottom with the volume off, so I couldn't figure it out.

  1. Anyone hear an explanation for Ray Scott's unusual behavior Monday night?

    Was it a mistake?

Was he pissed off at the Stache and saw this as a chance to get even?

Did he do it as a matter of principle?

And what kind of reception has he received in the GOP caucus since then?

    1. Scott has a primary on his hands, from state Rep. Dan Thurlow, who is not a knuckle-dragger like Scott. Scott is scared shitless so he's making a pathetic effort to moderate his views.

      1. A very insightful analysis. Even if he survives the challenge from the very independent minded ( relatively speaking ) Thurlow, he is then facing GJ city councilman, Chris Kennedy, a very popular Democrat, which is a rarity in these parts.

        1. Maybe?  I don’t understand why Scott would abandon his GJ base now, however?  You know, dance with them what brung ya’ . . .

  2. Tune of "Moon River"

    Polluting for a mile

You fill the world with bile

    Today.

    Dream killer,

    You two-scoops filler

    Wherever you're goin'

    I'll go the other way.

    Two voters,

    One dumber than a brick,

You make the whole world sick, you see.

We're after a very different end

You kiss the Koch's rear end

    Only Ivanka is your friend

    Don Trumpstink

    You stink!

  3. Mike Johnston bails from the state assembly.  So that settles the question Pseudo, MJ55 and I had regarding whether or not he was committed to the caucus process.  Obviously, if he had continued, but not gotten the minimum 10% vote of the delegates, his petition route would have been all for naught.

Interesting that it's taking the SoS office so much longer to validate the petitions, so there still could be some surprises for the other candidates.

Cary Kennedy and Mike Johnston are definitely on the ballot, with Jared Polis and Donna Lynne both likely, I suppose.

    1. What's the deadline for the Sec. of State to finish with petitions?  April 27 is the "Last day for the Secretary of State to deliver the Primary Election ballot order " — can the office keep examining ballots for sufficiency until that date?

      1. I can't answer that question (not being an election lawyer).  I know the delay is due to the extra layer of scrutiny required by the new law (confirming the individual signatures to prevent Keyser-fraud).

SoS Williams probably has all hands on deck to ensure getting the job done in time.  But as Pols indicated, Donna Lynne is the candidate most likely to get hit with a nasty surprise late in the game.  It would be nice to know how much communication the SoS and the candidates have during the verification process.
