Ryan Frazier may run against Perlmutter in CD7

From Lynn Bartles at The Denver Post…..

Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier will drop out of the crowded GOP race for the U.S. Senate and instead challenge U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, The Denver Post has learned.

Frazier expects to make the announcement as early as Wednesday, campaign organizers said.

Despite Frazier being touted as a rising young star in the Republican party, his candidacy for the U.S. Senate was never viable due to his lackluster fund raising. And with Norton now in the race (albeit as the “preferred” candidate of the old guard), the writing was on the wall.

The heretofore competitive CD7 has of late been considered a lock for Perlmutter and the Dems. The GOP hasn’t found anyone with name recognition ( who is Brian Campbell? ) to challenge Perlmutter and raise the kind of money for a credible race (Perlmutter has a substantial war chest).

Despite Perlmutter’s seeming invincibility, CD7 is competitive in party registrations, and mid terms are always tough on the party in power. Remember, “It’s the economy stupid” . What happens with the economy in the next year will define the outcome of the mid terms more than any other issue.

So what say you about this development?

  1. Ed had something like $800,000 COH at the end of July. He’s a fundraising juggernaut when he puts his mind to it, and he has not yet begun to fight. Whatever Wadhams has told him, Ryan was small time in the senate race, and he’ll be small time in CD-7.

This is really about CD-4 and helping the NRCC, by forcing the DCCC to play defense in two districts while going on offense in the one that really counts to them.

    1. Sort of gives you an idea how worried he is about his own district. That’s a confident man and he should be. Poor Frazier–it sucks being the sacrificial lamb.

    1. root for the people who were, up until a year ago, sending the country in the wrong direction?

This is insider baseball. People don’t pay attention to us “unbearably cocky” Dems in the blogosphere. People don’t vote for party, they vote for candidates. Especially here in Colorado.

Something tells me you’re not a middle of the road regular voter though. Or, if you are, you’ve obviously got some kind of problem with Democrats and don’t vote for them anyway.

As soon as the GOP starts offering voters something other than “Dems are cocky”, I’ll start to get worried.

Oh yeah, and thanks for signing up today just to post that insightful gem. I look forward to hearing from you again really soon.

      1. with arrogance. Colorado voters gave Dems a chance to Change everything.  What have Dems done with it, other than boast?

Frazier has an appealing biography. He has proven that he can handle the grind and eyeglazing detail of municipal governance, while at the same time staying engaged with issues of statewide concern.

He’s young and energetic, especially compared to Old Man Perlmutter.

Frazier’s a strong candidate. You wouldn’t be so desperate to slag him if he weren’t.

        1. 2 medium eggs, beaten.

          2 cups of sifted flour.

          1 cup of milk.

          ВЅ cup of peanut butter.

          Вј cup of sugar.

          2 tablespoons of butter, melted.

          3 teaspoons of baking powder.

          1 teaspoon of salt.

          Instructions for Peanut Butter Muffins:

Sift together the flour, sugar, baking power and salt.

Add the peanut butter and mix throroughly.

Combine the eggs and milk, then pour into the mixture.

Add the butter and stir until mixture is moistened.

Fill greased muffin pans about two-thirds full and bake at 400В°F (200В°C) for 25 minutes.

        2. The old “don’t trust anyone over 30” is now “don’t trust anyone over 40”. Ed is still a youngster with many years to go before retirement.
