Duterte is known for violent crudities in his speeches to the troops prosecuting his vicious war against drug smugglers, as well as his comments about women that openly condone and even celebrate rape–but this latest comment combines those two themes into something truly politically toxic to Duterte’s friends in the West, like
Do you suppose farm boy Cory was sweating in the tropical heat, or because he knew this photo would cost him?
More trashy guilt by association from libs.
More like “If you sleep with dogs, you’re bound to catch fleas”.
We’re all holding out hope that some day when an atrocity occurs, Republicans will be innocent by non-association . . .
. . . But, Fluffy, you’re the only one here foolish enough to be holding his breath for that day.

And what are your thoughts on Rodrigo Duterte. This is an easy one nutlid. Doesn't require a lot of brain power and not a gotcha question. Surely you can answer this one.

Did Gardner ever provide an even slightly plausible explanation for his trip there to shake Duterte's hand? I don't recall hearing anything.
Second question: Did he wash his hand afterward?
He's a Senator- and you are not ( I think).
Close to one-million Philippine golfers and not a single trump golf resort — yet . . .
He said that he went there to discuss human rights and trade deals. I think it was about the Chinese islands legislation that Gardner, as a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, had authored.
The US is jockeying for position, wanting the Phillipines as an ally against China. China is building artificial islands in the South China Sea, and trying to limit overflight and shipping lanes.
The Phillipines is very involved in this conflict.
And, the Phillipines also has both a genuine popular uprising movement against Duterte’s autocracy, and at the same time, an ISIS affiliate, Maute, that is being very successful in taking territory. Duterte’s people despise him and Maute’s exploiting that.
So for economic reasons, Gardner was willing to make nice with Duterte, the mass murderer and wannabe ammosexual rapist.
