What’s left of Colorado’s wood products industry has gone “grass-roots” in an effort that attempts to secure ongoing access to Colorado’s beetle kill timber?
Recent biomass energy projects such as the DOE funded wood pellet factories in Colorado have resulted in a small resurgence of the timber industry. However, it would appear the few timber mills left in Colorado don’t entirely trust Bill Ritter to stick to his guns. Gee. I wonder why.

I’m so sick of Ritter’s good for nothing policies. He has affectively killed every good industry in the State. And now, this roadless bull is just one more example of Ritter’s job-killing tactics.
These are NATIONAL FORESTS–i.e. not Colorado lands…what precisely are ‘Ritter’s job-killing tactics’ as it relates to the state’s proposed roadless rule?
Nice blog name this one has, too.
That’s what I mean.
It would be nice to see a timber industry in rural Colorado.
Decline of Aspen trees and the Pine Beetle prove mechanical timber management is a part of Forest Health.
Explain how SAD and beetle outbreaks “prove” this.
There is nothing about the Roadless “take back” that is going to hurt the timber industry. The Ski Resorts are going to be hit the hardest. When the global resort companies are looking at where to allocate capital, Ritter is once again creating uncertainty by opening the process up again when he already gave the ski companies exceptions. The coal folks are also probably not going to be hurt too bad because Ritter is not going to mess with something that provides discretionary revenue. Good luck to the resort companies who want some certainty with their expansion plans.
ask Arapahoe Basin
So a couple of wood cutters send in musings on a hot pink sheet of paper. Look out Bill Ritter!
Maybe the Ski folks can help CTIA with their marketing. Afterall, who else is goign to cut all that dead wood from their slopes.
I dont know much about the Roadless stuff but its just one more sector that feels double crossed by Ritter.
Thoughts?
Stop the presses!
A small part of the business community is upset with Bill Ritter?
No way!
Hey, at least they didn’t post the same, lame YouTube video of the incredibly bad radio spot. They also didn’t try to pretend to be “liberal”, while parroting talking points from Common Sense Colorado (right wing 527 group.)
