Hug, salute, greet, remember, or otherwise honor the veteran of your choice today!
Whatever we believe about the wars and reasons for wars, the young people who volunteer and train to protect our country have the best of motivations. They deserve the keeping of promises, including appropriate health care and more.
Agreed. Whether "just" a draftee or volunteer, someone who actually entered combat, someone injured or killed during combat — all deserve recognition, honor and our thanks.
John, that's not really what Veterans day is. Veterans Day, Remembrance Day, is to honor ALL veterans who honorably served
85 percent of us never saw combat. But those white side wall haircuts were really ugly. Yeah, it's always a day of mixed feelings and survivors guilt.
Cory Gardner is featured prominently defending Trump's verbal aggression towards the leader of North Korea. Real question: Is Trump grooming Gardner to step into a Secretary of State role if Tillerson steps away from it?
Cory Gardner’s remarks at 15:25. Gardner compares the “strategic patience’ of not provoking nuclear war with North Korea to the “patience” of a parent watching his kids throw food at dinner. Because, you know, those things are exactly alike.
Either that or Gardner will be President Pence's running mate in 2020.
I find neither thought comforting.
Day Three … The GOP (Grand Old Pedophiles) Held Hostage by Judge Moore:
The options are not good but the national Republicans are starting to come to grips with the problem they have.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/10/us/politics/roy-moore-alabama-republican.html?&hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news
It's pretty clear Big Luther is seriously looking at a write-in run. This is probably the route they will go given Lisa Murkowski is actively giving Big Luther advice on how to do it.
Delaying the election is probably the most outrageous option on the table. There will be lawsuits. And it is a dangerous precedent (not that this would stop the GOP from trying it). And there is no guarantee it would do any good. Moore may still stay in the race whether the election is Dec. 12 or June 12.
This got me thinking about something that happened 26 years ago. The Louisiana Republicans, in their wisdom, nominated David Duke as their candidate for governor that year.
Did George H.W. Bush stand up and say, "If the allegations of Klan membership prove to be true, then Duke should step down"? Hell no, he did the right thing and openly endorsed Edwin Edwards.
These are the days of Donnie TwoScoops, unfortunately . . .
. . . where we’ve become Preidentially overwhelmed and inured by every type of misbehavior and daily scandal. Maybe Moore might have drawn more intraparty outrage before, but for Republicans his pedophilia seems to be almost acceptable as the next Trumpian inevitability.
And Edwards' bumper sticker read: ELECT THE CROOK, IT'S IMPORTANT
Democrat Jared Polis launches site linking GOP gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo with Donald Trump (from the Site-That-Must-Not-Be-Named)
So I'm guessing Jared is not taking Cynthia too seriously.
Cory Gardner belatedly cuts off Roy Moore from NRSC funding of his Senate bid.
It's hard to claim you cut off funds for a candidate when you have no money to give out to start with because your donors are pissed off.
NRSC has 34 million, per FEC, for the 2017-18 election cycle. They did have 138 million on hand as of December 2016.
Roy Moore's Senate fund had 3.5 million, but spent 2.8 million of it already. So the NRSC cutting them off could really hurt. (cue tiny violin)
I sent a c-note to doug jones.
This has got to be, by far, the funniest thing anyone’s heard at the Kremlin this week . . .
Trump Says Putin ‘Means It’ About Not Meddling
http://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/11/world/asia/trump-putin-election.html
That leaves W's comment about "I looked into Putin's eyes and saw his soul" sitting in the road.
There's one born every minute. I mean people who believe Trump. About anything.
I'm pretty sure Russia's FSB has a code name for Trump — Useful Idiot
Meanwhile back at MAGA swampquarters . . .
Trump Nominee for Federal Judgeship Has Never Tried a Case
http://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/11/us/brett-talley-judge-senate.html
“ . . . I asked him. He said, ‘sure, I’m qualified.” I believe him . . .”
Why might they be in such a hurry to get a friendly judge placed in Alabama? Hmmmm.
Let’s get some compositional quality on the pic there, Pols.
Is this the kind of government we fought for? The
GreatFailed #BrownBackExperiment is about to get a second life with #KutKutKut‘One of the most secretive, dark states’: What is Kansas trying to hide?
Shout out to Negev: I used my veterans day discount at big5 to get a really sweet Mossberg 5+1 500 combo with 18.5 and 28 inch barrels. I looked at the eight shot maverick but it feels muzzle heavy. The 500 has great balance and is perfect for trap, skeet and hd work. I haven't had a shotgun since giving one to a friend except for the old double barrel I got from my father. Looking forward to giving it a workout on my next trip to my farm in Eastern Colorado.
If you stop by Greg Brophy's house, there's probably a watermelon there for you.
Whoa.
Green Beret Discovered SEALs’ Illicit Cash. Then He Was Killed.
A Green Beret involved in an intelligence activity in Mali discovered 2 Navy SEALs were stealing money from it. Now he’s dead & they’re under investigation for killing him – after picking the worst cover story possible.
This raises a LOT of questions about what the US is really doing in West Africa at a moment when it seems like that’s where the “war on terrorism” is gaining momentum.
We're supposed to be fighting ISIS in its various African incarnations…but ISIS is winning the hearts and minds of the people in some areas. Per NYT reporting:
Yes, it would be good to have some clarity about the US mission in West Africa. Unfortunately, we have the President and State department we have, so clarity is….not coming soon.
I believe that the majority of US soldiers there mean well and are trying to help.
“The United States mission in West Africa”?
Oil.
Same as it ever was . . .
Where was Hillary at the time?
cook did you see this? Revenge really is best served cold. (with a fine white Chianti and a dish of fava beans)
Man who was denied a marriage license by Kentucky homophobe County Clerk Kim Davis will run for her job next year.
Sweet! Didn't she leave her job to go promote homophobia in Romania?
I did, M.J. I can't decide which one made me smile more; that, or this. https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2017/11/virginias-new-transgender-legislator-destroyed-anti-trans-opponent-national-tv/
How did this President manage to overlook all opportunity to mention Veterans Day?
