AM760 Interviews: Bob Moore on Cory Gardner's Birtherism & Rachel Maddow on Corp Media

This morning on AM760, we talked to Ft. Collins Coloradoan editor Bob Moore about state representative Cory Gardner’s (R) dive into the fringe right-wing “birther” movement. Moore encouraged listeners who read the Denver Post’s report to make sure to read the Coloradoan’s story about the controversy as well, because the Coloradoan has a different take. We discussed the upcoming race in the 4th congressional district and how Gardner’s embrace of “birtherism” may be an effort to try to appease his far-right base and therefore clear the Republican primary field. You can listen to the interview here.

Also on the broadcast, we talked to MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow about the health care fight, and specifically discussed the value of trying to get every Democratic congressperson in Colorado to pledge to vote only for a health care bill that includes the public option. You can listen to that clip here (Maddow’s interview starts about half way in). Just yesterday, Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) refused to make that pledge. And during an AM760 interview this week, Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-CO) told me that he “didn’t know” whether he would vote for a final bill without a public option.

We’ll be going into more detail on all of this next week on the morning show, between 7am-10am. Tune in. Also, make sure to check out our new weekly podcast, featuring our best guest Q&A’s of the week all edited down and in one place. This week’s packages together interviews with Maddow, Gov. Ritter, historian Rick Perlstein and Rolling Stone reporter Jeff Sharlet. You can find it here.

  1. I’m not sure the “fringe” describes more than half of the Republican voters in Colorado who believe in conspiracy theories, and embracing them is just as crazy.

    Good show Sirota.
