Troy Eid: The Man Who Will Float His Name for ANYTHING

by: Colorado Pols

Thu Dec 18, 2008 at 10:02:36 AM MST

Good ol' Troy Eid is back in the news, saying he's definitely, really, seriously going to run for some sort of political office. He's like the Republican Bernie Buescher, though much less-respected.

Colorado Pols :: Troy Eid: The Man Who Will Float His Name for ANYTHING
U.S. Attorney for Colorado Troy Eid said he plans to run for office, although he hasn't decided which one, while Attorney General John Suthers announced he'll seek Ken Salazar's seat in the U.S. Senate.

"Both parties seem to be frozen in the past. They keep running the same people," Eid said.

He called himself an outsider who could work with people in either party and said he is "the most centrist person I know."

Wow. Somebody is pretty impressed with themselves.

Eid, if you'll recall, has threatened to run for office more times than Scott McInnis. But at least McInnis has actually discussed running for a specific office. Even worse than the Rocky article above is this piece in The Denver Post:

Colorado's attorney general and U.S. attorney, both Republicans, signaled their interest Wednesday in the Senate seat soon to be vacated by new Obama appointee Ken Salazar.

The state's top lawyers aren't candidates for an appointment this year, but they have set their sights on a 2010 race thought too difficult for Republican challengers until the popular Salazar's departure.

State Attorney General John Suthers and U.S. Attorney Troy Eid feel confident that they could knock out any of the top Democratic candidates for the seat now being considered by Gov. Bill Ritter...

...Eid, likely to resign his post with the entrance of the Obama administration, also expressed interest in a run for governor or possibly the 7th Congressional District, depending on how the next few weeks play out.

Eid is infamous for telling people that he's going to run for office - any office - and these articles again just makes him look like a boob. Just so we're clear: Eid would be interested in running for Governor. Or Senate. Or CD-7. Or PTA President.

Looks like you can update the Big Line
The paragraph after the last one you've quoted says Suthers has decided not to run for another term as AG.

Maybe Troy Eid will throw his hat into that race as well.

That would make things interesting
If Eid runs for A.G., his wife, Colorado Supreme Court Justice Allison Eid, will have to recuse from a whole lotta cases.

Won't Happen
The AG tries too many cases in front of the Supreme Court.  His wife would have to recuse herself.  She's not going to do that.

[ Parent ]
criminal defense lawyers would love that!

The US Attorney
Is highly respected.  You shouldn't poke Lions with sticks.  Mr. Eide would make a fine candidate for any office he so desires.

It sounds as if Mr. Eide's problem is just having so many options available to him.  Is that a crime?

And from now on I expect a little more respect out of this blog for Mr. Eide.

Ref C was pork without the fat.

Are Mr. Eide and Troy Eid related?

twins

At least we spelled his name right

He will get a great deal more respect when he has the courage to actually
take positions on specific issues. He is notorious for being a nice guy but after your done talking to him you can't remember any of the substance of the conversation because there wasn't any. He tries to be all things to all people all the times without ever committing.

[ Parent ]
You tell 'em! We'll show 'em where they can stick that 1st Amendment!

[ Parent ]
Just don't
poke a Lion with it.

Centrist?
Really? Is that why when he was running for CU Regent in 06 (before he got a better offer to his current job) he ran proclaming "NO MORE WARD CHURCHILLS?"

Not that you have to be a fan of the former professor, but that's a guy that knows how to stoke partisan flames.

Why so down on him?
I first heard of Colorado Pols in a newspaper article, which quoted Pols as calling Troy Eid "the Human Rumor." I had recently worked with him and that (accurate) description made me laugh, so I went to this site and have been hooked ever since. Anyway, I know you guys like to ride Eid whenever he publicly ponders his next step.

This time, though, you seem really put out by him. You say he's "pretty impressed with himself," "infamous," and "look[s] like a boob." What's up with that?

FWIW, I think he's a little ADD and thinks out loud in front of reporters too much....
