A MAN WAS SEEN LEAVING THE WHITEHOUSE ON FOOT AND HEADED FOR THE FENCE NEAR LAFAYETTE PARK. HE WAS APPREHENDED JUST BEFORE HE WENT OVER THE FENCE AND RETURNED TO THE WHITE HOUSE, WHERE THE SECRET SERVICE TOLD HIM "MR PRESIDENT YOU CAN'T LEAVE YET YOU HAVE OVER TWO MONTHS LEFT ON YOUR TERM.

Oh jeez, Dave...
Someone's getting a little cocky with their Pols privileges.  :)

I figured we could all use a laugh right now
Plus it's leaves an open thread about "Still President Bush." I'm guessing he pretty much checks out for the next 2 months. We'll have Paulson & Gates running the country - which is an improvement.

I don't think he checks out at all
There's much more mischief to be accomplished.

Yesterday he approved BLM plans for public lands in Utah.  Because of the process for getting similar actions approved, it is unlikely that what he approved yesterday can be undone in the next president's term.

Today, his DOE announced the award of a five-year M&O contract for the Yucca Mountain project.  Five years.  That's nearly a year after the next president's first term ends.

Bush has lots left to give away, and nearly three months left to do it.

Best to kill them early instead of letting them possibly need food stamps.

My thoughts exactly
This is Bush's last opportunity to gut the public lands system in this country, and his corporate buddies' last chance to drain the taxpayer's dollar without oversight.

"I have come to the conclusion that the making of laws is like the making of sausages-the less you know about the process the more you respect the result."  -- Anonymous IL State Rep. circa 1878

Not to mention
a blanket pardon for everyone who held an executive branch, intelligence agency or lobbyist firm job (for designated firms) since Jan. 20, 2001.

We're assuming he had a pre-celebratory nip.
So we moved it down by the open thread away from the serious stuff.

But yes, we prefer all home page content to be reality based, or failing that not in all caps.

Perhaps our readers will use this thread as an opportunity to sober him up, a la Private Pyle in Full Metal Jacket.

I think David was pretending to be a teletype news machine....

Thank you
I think moving it down was fair. The all caps is because my daughter sent it to me that way - and it looked more real that way.

Really?
Someone needs to pull his privileges... give me a break
