Adventures in Iconography

GOP Senate candidate Bob Schaffer has the beginnings of a website up.

In exchange for the free link we just gave him, we would be remiss if we didn't point out his browser icon. While we can, because we doubt it will be there long:

This is what happens when the tech guy doesn't talk to the image guy.

CLASSIC !!
Nice catch!

BS is right
"You'd have to hand it to the Democrats . . . and Republicans did. The Democrats didn't win recent elections as much as Republicans lost them. But those days are now over."

Those days are now over since the GOP imploded. Democrats can now hand it to themselves for winning elections.

Thanks BS!

Boy, that copy from B.S.'s web site sure sounds familiar...
Haven't I read that on this site before?

[ Parent ]
it's called lying

"Suddenly, it may be cool to be American again" - William J. Kole

[ Parent ]
Yeah, but doesn't it sound like a certain somebody's style of prose?

[ Parent ]
oh so THAT's where DDHGLQ has been keeping himself busy these days!

[ Parent ]
Schaffer's webmaster can simply change the icon to BSHGLQ.

[ Parent ]
oh, you're back with us?
Welcome back!  We thought you left to enlist w/ the Schaffer campaign.  Or to join to circus.  Or something....

[ Parent ]
no
I know who you're talking about, but no. Bob wrote that, I'm sure of it.

[ Parent ]
There's that smell again.....election must be coming around
sorry, I'm channeling Bob Beauprez

[ Parent ]
Um, oops?
*Someone* didn't pay much attention to what they were creating.  Or maybe they did...

"I have come to the conclusion that the making of laws is like the making of sausages-the less you know about the process the more you respect the result."  -- Anonymous IL State Rep. circa 1878

My thoughts exactly.
There are lots of liberal tech guys out there who are wrongly assumed to be apolitical.

honest political advertising
nice to see some honesty in politics for a change. You have to respect Bob's BS inside campaign branding.

MU vs. BS
Before this campaign is finished, we're going to be quite worn out by the jokes about the candidates bovine-related initials.  Come Nov. '08, B.S. is gonna wish he had introduced himself as Rob Schafer.

Wasn't Jeff Crank the "Common Sense Conservative"
Interesting that he wants to be more like Crank.  Common Sense does not describe Doug Lamborn.

Too bad Mark Udall
is named Mark, and not "Fred" or "Frank" or "Ferdinand" ... you get the idea.

What are you talking about?...I don't get it." - bjwilson83

Yes I do Ari
Why can't we get a break like that?:)

[ Parent ]
On the other hand...
Apparently, conservatives now get to look sensible while Shaffer's opponents laugh at his initials.  For goodness sake, do we not have anything more important to complain about?

(Besides, I think BS describes a lot of other republican candidates a lot better than the future nominee for Senate.)

"... politics has been divided between two types of people: those who want more people to vote, and those who want fewer people to vote."
- Sen. Kerry

wow
he looks like a senator

Thanks for the .gif
It'll come in handy!
Buwhaaaa, haaa, haaaa!

They shaved him
before they took his picture! Smart move.

"It is hard enough to remember my opinions, without also remembering my reasons for them!" - Nietzsche

Thanks for the link
My financial support is on it's way to Bob.

"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'" Ronald Reagan

The BS is gone... RIP
From the link window, at least...

Interesting that of the five paragraphs on his opening "Dear Friends" page, four of them criticize his fellow Republicans pretty harshly - and the one paragraph mentioning the Democrats (predictably and tiresomely using Nancy Pelosi's name, because gosh, we all know how much that grandmother's name drives fear into the hearts of every single American of decency and common sense) is about as lame and milquetoasty as they come.

If that's all Schaffer can say about Dems, 2008 will have a cold winter for Republicans.

If it was gone
then it's back now.

Clear your browser cache
It appears to be gone.

[ Parent ]
so schaffer...
...is running for 7th grade class president; is that it?  because it sure sounds like his critics are operating on that level of maturity.  did you guys actually giggle "tee-hee" with an open palm over your lips while you muttered the syllables "b.s."?  that'd almost be cute if it weren't so sad.

okay everybody,
you heard the man / woman. This blog has a new hall monitor, so fun time is OVER! Got it?

This seems to be S.O.P. for Pols
It's funny in a locker-room humor sort of way, which is a lot of what you'll get from Pols.  If you're going to play here, you have to have shorts made of asbestos, skin thicker than a rhino, and expect from your colleagues all the sober morality and intellectual consistency of a federal judge.

Still, every once in a while, real discussion breaks out.
