Traylor Won't Back Kopp; Beauprez Gets Involved

by: Colorado Pols

Wed Oct 25, 2006 at 15:45:02 PM MDT

The Rocky Mountain News today reports that Republican Kiki Traylor, who lost her primary bid in SD-22 to Mike Kopp, will not endorse Kopp because of his campaign tactics in the primary:

Outgoing state Sen. Kiki Traylor won't endorse the Republican who beat her in their rough-and-tough primary because she says his supporters lied about her record.
Traylor said Tuesday that GOP gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez asked her recently to endorse Mike Kopp, and she told him "no."

"It would mean that I have no integrity," Traylor said. "Endorsing Mike means endorsing his campaign and his supporters, and I can't endorse the way those people campaign."

Kopp could not be reached for comment, but he has said that attacks on Traylor did not come from his campaign. Traylor's decision normally would have little impact on the race because Senate District 22 in Jefferson County is heavily Republican. But this is not a normal year.

Pollsters say unaffiliated voters are overwhelmingly backing Democratic candidates, giving Kopp's opponent, Paula Noonan, a Jefferson County businesswoman, a shot in the race.

"I am staying neutral, but I know that (Noonan) has been contacting a lot of my supporters," Traylor said. "She is going for unaffiliated voters and Republican women. The Republican women I talk to do not believe that Mike Kopp represents them."

Traylor isn't the only Republican who won't back Kopp. As Colorado Confidential reports, other Republican groups are staying away from him because he just refuses to respond to them.

It's also interesting to note that Republican Bob Beauprez tried to bring Traylor and Kopp together in hopes of making peace between the two. Surely the message sounded heartfelt coming from someone who refused to make peace with his primary opponent

Great News!
Good job Kiki!

"I've learned a lot of lessons being involved in politics. I also believe that when you are attacked, you have to deck your opponents." -- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY)

You got it right Kiki!
Leave her alone, BWB.  She's 10 times more honorable than your shadow, and the same goes for you, Kopp.

Kiki
That didn't come out right--that was supposed to be a compliment to Kiki...

Keep piling on....
Why would it be unusual for the top of the ticket to attempt to bring a fractured party together?  It's in his interests and the party's interest to do so.  He is also an state Chairman.  This is Standard Operating Procedure.

Unfortuantely it didn't happen, but he was right in trying.  I haven't seen any indication that Bob blew up at her.  I'm sure he understands, but as a party guy and the top of the ticket he was obliged to try.

As for the cheap-shot at the end of your entry, what evidence do you have that Bob "refused to make peace" with Holtzman?  For that matter, what proof or evidence ever came to light that validates the fiction you link to?

Pols is tacky
ColoradoPols --

Your response to Moonraker is pretty tacky -- citing your own story as evidence Beauprez won't make peace with Holtzman.  What evidence is there to your original Beauprez-Holtzman story?  I guess the proof will be if Trailhead or one of its "affiliated" 527s gets a big check from Holtzman?  Will you publicly retract the story if no money is contributed to Trailhead?  Probably not.  You made it a big story when Trailhead was accused of not accurately reporting contributions to/from the Senate and House 527s by a left-wing rag.  But I don't seem to remember the big story you ran mentioning that the lawyer who filed the suit had withdrawn it when the withdrawal was reported by the Rocky.

[ Parent ]
it's not unusual for the leader of the party to try to reunite a fractured party
But he failed to get Traylor to endorse Kopp which demonstrates how ineffective his persuasive abilities are with people in his own party.
If he were elected governor, how in hell does he expect to leader a delegation of governors to D.C. to demand that the Democratic-controlled U.S. House pass his idea of immigration reform?

Holtzman
It's not a cheapshot, moonraker, it's called reality.

Beauprez had more than enought time to reach out to Marc Holtzman and his supporters. Beauprez chose not to because of his own ego and inflated sense of superiority.

He made that choice. Now you have to live with it.

Enjoy.

have to laugh at some of this
in the tech and science world, we always needs proof of what somebody is saying. But here, I find it funny for you and others to want proof. Romer was well known in the Dem circles to be in a none standard relationship. Since it was in the open amongst the participants, then I had no issue with it. And yes, I was aware of it even in his first term, since I had some friends who were working for Romer and the dem party. There is no way that I could actually have offered proof as it would have comprimised the ppl.
The other day, I made several assertions that was removed from here. And again somebody asking for proof. It was a republican wanting to know what I had, yet, I am certain that the person was fully aware of the same stuff that I know. How did I know? From one of participant (him|her) self while they spoke at a restaurant (in addition, from another friend of mine who is high in the republican party).

It strikes me that you and other are simply pumping others for leaks, not info. What I find funny is that some provide it.

I prefer the "u" in honour as it seems to be missing these days.

I suspect most of us know about whom you are posting.........
and yes, the hypocrisy is the real problem, not the nature of the relationship!

[ Parent ]
Maybe
you are much more plugged in to the political social scene than I am and have access to all sorts of seedy info, but when accusing someone of such, you should provide some form of evidence.  So far, I've heard the person in question has a mistress, a love child, and is gay.  Maybe they are all true, or not true at all, but just stating it doesn't make it so.  Who is the "participant"?  The mistress?  The person in question?  And one of them is speaking of their affair in a restaurant?  Interesting stuff, but forgive me for wanting more before going to press.

Blog supports Blog
does not cut it for me or the rest of the people out there I suspect.  L.Bacall is right on.  Dumping lies on a blog and hoping a reporter picks it up blindly is rather silly and greatly discredits this site.  It is a shame ColoradoPols is also feeding the cancer that may ultimately be it's ruin by making these misrepresentations top fold.

Why go to the press
First, I have to laugh if you have heard that he is gay. No more than Clinton.

Second, I was commenting about the individuals political future. He is at the highest possible due to the issues mentioned.

Interesting stuff, but forgive me for wanting more before going to press.
Sadly, decades ago, the press allowed a politician to have their own private life. In light of what happened to Clinton and his family, I am glad that overall, they have left the individual alone. It is very easy to confirm some of what I said (simply sit outside of both places) and watch who spends their time where.
In addition, overall, W. and his family has also been left alone. I only hope that in the future that more politicans get that.

I prefer the "u" in honour as it seems to be missing these days.

Yippee!
How pissed off would you be after losing your seat by 79 votes to a sh*t-eating psycho who supports giving handguns to felons...Kopp deserves to have Rush Limbaugh sit on his face.

Mike Kopp is a Great American
Mike Kopp is an American Hero, a soldier, a father and a husband.  He is a conservative champion and will be a great state senator.  It is not surprising, just sad, that Kikki is so small minded that she won't endorse him. Mike is the future of the Party and the furture of the conservative movement.

Mike Kopp is a great American.

Stunning
endorsement!  However, if only extremist radicals from the far-right are the only people/groups who think that way,  it still doesn't make him worth electing.

Blue Bronc

I love how he repeats himself...
...2 or 3 times with his endrosement.

[ Parent ]
God help us
Mike Kopp will say and do anything to get elected.  What does that say about his agenda?  It cannot be trusted.  He's another extreme conservative who inflct more harm upon our state.  I had hopep Republicans that learned those types of candidates should not be in power.

Re: Mike Kopp is a Great American
Mike, you really should refrain from endorsing yourself.

I prefer the "u" in honour as it seems to be missing these days.

Kiki has integrity?
According to Websters, integrity is "firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values". Notice the word "adherence", which means sticking with a moral code. Is it moral to renig on a signed statement with the state Republican Party to endorse the winner of the Primay election? It's easy to make a promise when you have been told you can't lose. Integrity is sticking to your commitment. Norma Anderson always said that the only thing worth anything in the legislature is YOUR WORD. I guess Kiki has proved the voters right that she is not trustworthy to be their senator.

Never!
When has the Republican EVER stuck with to their moral code? Kiki stood up against lies.  Those same liars (Kopp & Associates) will stop at nothing.

Kiki has integrity.

slime ball the victim?
What an idea. Get republicans to sign a document pledging their allegiance, proceed to destroy them with attacks and lies then call them dishonest if they break ranks. What a great formula for party unity.

This is the Kopp calling the kettle black. Kopp claims that he has nothing to do with either his slimy primary or slimier general campaign. In his primary he mislead a citizen into filing a campaign finance complaint against Traylor. The citizen, learning it was just a political ploy, then retracted. Not to be dissuaded Kopp hired a slampaign manager who would follow through on his dirty work. He picked political prostitute Rob Fairbank. Fairbank then filed campaign finance complaints against Traylor, all dismissed, and coordinated a wave of dishonest campaign ads.

Kopp now says he has nothing to do with it. If hiring a political hit man absolves you of responsibility then maybe Kopp is as clean as he says. I think hiring someone to do your dirty work is just as slimy and less courageous. I don’t blame Traylor one bit for not backing him.

Objection
No need to pull Fairbanks into this.  He's just a hired gun.

birds of a feather
Beauprez's leaker buddy Vorhis gave money to Kopp.
Too bad Vorhis did not do a background check on Kopp as he has had some serious legal problems if what was reported yesterday on Colorado Pols is accurate.
Jefferson County could be a clean sweep for the Democrats.
Benefield, Green, Fitz-Gerald, A. Kerr, Boyd, Noonan and Keller are all looking like winners. Dittemore has got J. Kerr so worried that he is sending out a lot of mail.

Did We Not See This Coming?
The Republicans have been running nasty campaigns for years.  Kopp is a jackhole who doesn't give a damn about Jeffco families.  We don't want to become a free-roaming sespool of guns and if he cared about the WHOLE Constitutional like he does about the 2nd amendment, maybe I'd consider him.

Two votes for Paula Noonan from my household.

Keystone Kopp
Let me get this right:
Kopp has a bunch of his cronies set up a Robo call machine that accuses Kiki Traylor of  everything evil short of being the Anti Christ, but he's too chicken to face her in a debate, then he is surprised when she won't endorse him?
Then he refuses to debate his current opponent in front of the League of women voters because they're "too liberal."
And he's surprised when the Republican Group who was hosting the debate won't endorse him?
Thank goodness there are still some Republicans who are offended by slimy politics.
Then he puts out hate Robo call material against his general election opponent that calls her supporters cross dressers, homosexuals and the abortion on demand crowd? (With no proof, mind you.) And kids may be answering those phone calls?
What is he smoking?
This guy is a newcomer to Colorado. He has lived in four states in 10 years. Where did he learn this brand of gutter politics, in the gutters of Minneapolis, Alamagordo or Flagstaff?
Apparently the State Republicans don't care that he is taking money from Bob Beauprez' informant Cory Voorhis, who got a nice plea bargain himself a few years ago.
When I listened to his Robo calls I wanted to take a shower.
