Denver Post Fails to Read the Denver Post

(The editorials flow better if they don’t – promoted by Colorado Pols)

Apparently the Denver Post Editorial Board neglected to put any effort whatsoever into their latest anti-union rant today (Denver Post, https://www.denverpost.com/opin… ).

While the Denver Post’s news section actually reported the substantive parts of House Bill 1170 correctly (Jessica Fender, https://www.denverpost.com/news… ), the Denver Post later ignored the facts or any other reporting on House Bill 1170, and proceeded to hammer out the usual anti-union falsehoods without any actual fact-checking or well, actual editing.

Now for those of us who have been following this bill closely, and have actually attended the hearings and read the actual bill and amendments, we know better.

The Denver Post also apparently failed to read the Associated Press or the article on the Denver Channel.com as well….

Soon after, the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 7 released a statement rebutting the blatant falsehoods that were laid out (rather sloppily) in the editorial.

“In one of the biggest non-surprises of the legislative session, the notoriously and historically anti-labor, anti-working family Denver Post editorial page published an error-filled piece today about HB 1170. The editorial was written without calling either the bill’s sponsors or the United Food & Commercial Workers Local #7. ”

read the press release  ( https://ufcw7.canvastoolbox.com… ).

The Denver Post also failed to pick up on the Associated Press story that The Denver Channel.com picked up on earlier today too, which reported the correct information about the bill ( https://www.thedenverchannel.co… ) .

Colorado Media Matters also pointed out the carelessness and errors as well ( https://colorado.mediamatters.o… ) .

The only “bad timing” aspect about this editorial is the Denver Post’s disregard for the facts on House Bill 1170.

I know we shouldn’t expect more from the Denver Post but, this is just plain lazy.
