I had to turn off "Morning Joe" this AM as I can no longer tolerate that insufferable fool…
To hear that blowhard go on and on about this, one would think that the Bowe Bergdahl recovery is likely to destroy the nation and send all our children into bondage, or some other similarly disasterous turn of events.
As I said in another thread…this is much ado about nothing. It actually only reveals how little the rabid right has to talk about. They are desperately trying to find something..ANYTHING..to vilify the president.
I watch the "Morning Bonehead" show because they frequently have excellent guests and I enjoy hearing from the likes of Mike Barnacle, Donny Deutch and Steve Rattner (and the inimitable Mike Allen from Politico.)…but I can hardly stand to listen to the sound of Joe Scarboroughs' voice. What a buffoon..

I think that the producers originally thought that the "chemistry" between Mika and Joe, the liberal vs conservative, female vs male, etc, would keep the show popping. All I see is thought bubbles over Mika's head: Ice pick or cast iron skillet? STFU Joe!

I also find in rather funny that MSNBC programming is not liberal enough for the Pols squad.
Joey Scabs is a winger in moderate sheep's clothing and is proof positive that Republicans lie every time they claim MSNBC is librul.
Scabs was one of Newt's warriors, you know the group that stood up to the Democratic president and forced him to resign for murdering all those people over shady real estate deals and hummers.

It seems even Dem Senators are pushing back on the idiot Obama nominated to be the Ambassador to Norway. George Tsusis gave perhaps the worst performance ever at his confirmation hearing in January. The cracker jack State Department is not backing down. Should be fun.

He isn't half as entertaining as Dubya's cracker jack SCOTUS nominee Harriet Miers. Seriously, what's the worst thing the Norwiegen Ambassador could do? Screw up the koldtbord? Forget to refrigerate the sweet brown cheese?
Still, he doesn't sound like a good fit. And it does sound like a case of crass, political payback. I'm with Al Franken. I like the way the Washingon Post columnist put it:

I don't disagree either. It would also be nice if a country like ours, a polyglot melting pot and mosaic, could come up with qualified ambassadors who speak the language of the country to which they are sent. I know that, especially in Scandanavia, practically everyone speaks English but as a matter of courtesy, respect, and also because a speaker of the language is likely to be a fan of the culture, it seems like a no brainer. Especially since we expect all of their ambassadors to speak English here.

I'm with you too, Duke. I particularly dislike when they have on W's former press spokeswoman and McCain-Palin's Senior Advisor, Nicolle Wallace. I mean, she believed Sarah Palin was mentally ill ("The idea of a mentally ill vice president who suffers in complete isolation was obviously sparked by the behaviors I witnessed by Sarah Palin.") and yet she worked to make her vice president.
The show also suffers from "How great are we?" syndrome. Amanda Bee on "The Daily Show" did a hilarious piece a few weeks ago skewering the self-important blather that comes from Joe and Mika.
But reportedly (at least based on the authors of "Game Change"), while she may have worked for Palin, she refused to vote for Palin. She tearfully confessed to Woody Harrelson a/k/a Steve Schmidt at the end of the movie that she couldn't go through with it.
I watch that show as well. Joe and Mika are both idiots.
Wow, you guys are up and watching TV earlier than I am. I only see snippets on other shows, like The Daily Show which comes on at a much more civilized hour…. 9 PM here on Comedy Central, suitable for enjoying with a nice glass of wine.
I'm usually out the door by 7 am, but this is summer….. Not putting Morning Joe on anymore, though. It's too irritating.

The media is starting to pick up on the right wing hypocrisy. Begging for Obama to do anything to get Bergdahl back home in February – to the current trash they are spewing now.
Even Charles Krauthammer (whom I've always assumed wouldn't cross the street to piss on President Obama if his heart was on fire) says the Rs are out of line criticizing the deal the President made. He acknowledges that it's nothing new and that worse deals have been cut for other P.O.Ws.

But Whole Foods CEO has always been a conservative -he's anti-union organizing, the company has monopolistic practices to drive out competition (anybody remember Sunflower Market, or Alfalfa's markets in Denver?) they've never supported any farmworker boycotts- they blatantly gouge customers on price, and they're dishonest about "natural" labelling. John Mackey, the CEO, infamously compared Obamacare to fascism.
So yeah, Whole Foods fits right in with the Boyles show philosophy, even though Peter Boyles would probably rather be caught in a pink tutu than eating tofu. So call – I did, spoke to store ad mgr , who wasn't aware of any ad buys at all, had never heard of Peter Boyles or KNUS, but referred me to the Whole Foods regional support office 303-440-5220.
Interesting follow-up, mama. The ad specifically referenced South Glenn and I'm pretty sure was new. WF has always been a conflict for me, third in line of preference behind Vitamin Cottage (now Natural Grocers) and Sunflower (now Sprouts) in that order. Spent a lot of time at Alfalfa. Also two long gone pioneers at 17th & Downing & S. Pearl (or Pennsylvania).
Mackey is certainly conservative, but I'll bet his customer base isn't and some of his previous antics have hurt the stock price. I'll try to call, too.
It was Bayaud and Penn, Yank. It was where Carmine's is now. I still miss that cozy little store, I went there all the time. It was back in the late '80s and we lived in an apartment at Bayaud and Logan. But I can't remember the name of it to save my life.

Bergdahl's unit overall wasn't the best in terms of performance. In addition to Bergdahl's wandering habit, several of the COs were demoted and Bergdahl complained about his fellow soldiers running over a child at one point.
The Republican establishment has picked up on the complaints of some of his fellow soldiers, but the more I read, the more the charge of desertion doesn't seem to fit – despite claims that his commanding officers supported that charge after Bergdahl went missing.

DENVER – A request by conservative political group Citizens United to be treated as a media organization under Colorado election law was denied on Thursday.
The Colorado Secretary of State's office ruled that an upcoming documentary featuring state politicians "is an electioneering communication" and that it does not fall under any of the exemptions to state laws requiring political groups to disclose financial donors when running ads that mention candidates within 60 days of an election.
The decision could set the stage for courtroom battle, something that wouldn't be new for Citizens United.
The group is the namesake of the landmark 2010 US Supreme Court decision that opened the door to unlimited corporate campaign spending.
To that. I say, GOOD. The news outlet should ignore the propaganda machines that CU really are.

Today's decision really is good news, just in terms of holding the line, even though it will probably be appealed, and possibly even make it back up to the Supreme Court. I hope it gets denied again way before then, at the Federal level.
Sad that this is good news, when the changes Citizen United brought into being are still making our political process into one big reality TV show. Reality and fantasy are blurred, repetition makes lies seem truthy, corporations are still to be treated as people, money is still to be treated as speech.r.
Unlimited dark money will still pay for political ads on all sides of the issues and candidates.
But at least, they will have to disclose donors if they run ads 60 days before the election.

Senators reach bipartisan deal on bill to "fix VA"

While I suspect that this sails thru the Senate with only Ted Cruz to hoot inconsolably about the excessive spending, I predict the Teapublicans will kill it in the House because "it's not paid for."
What's less clear is how this is supposed to "fix the VA." It'll still have a huge demand for non-service connected care, and without any sort of mandate for the private sector to accept these Vets and their spankin' new VA debit cards, no real solution to the backlog of care.
Politics is the art of "fixing" that which isn't broken, and claiming to fix that which isn't.
It's still not good news for righties as it detracts from their ability to rail at the WH and Dems, probably why their new thing is that the timing of the Bergdahl exchange is to take the VA fiasco off the front pages. Never mind this deal will do that anyway with a lot less fuss. Heck, the VA scandal was losing steam in the media anyway simply due to the public's usual short attention span.
And never mind congress has known of talks in the works to get Bergdahl back for years or that McCain expressed approval before he decided to be shocked and outraged. Then there are the obviously less in the loop R pols who posted congrats over Bergdahl's return before they got the memo and then quickly deleted all that niceness from their sites. That certainly made for some welcome entertaining moments on the Rachel Maddow Show.
The more that comes out, the less likely it seems that there was anything fishy or even all that secret going on here. The only conspiracies going on seem to be of the usual, abjectly cynical GOTP spin variety. It would be so nice if it didn't always take so long for this WH to get out in front of these attacks, if they didn't always commit so many unforced errors and if Dem pols wouldn't always be so quick to run like frightened rabbits every time the right behaves in the same totally predictable way. It's not as if we don't always find out, after they let the GOTP define the crisis or scandal du jour and spread their lies for days or weeks or months first, that the Dems had the facts to shut the spin down all along. Where 's the learning curve?
