We'll have much more on the big news in Jeffco last weekend, but in the meantime, here's a statement from Congressman Ed Perlmutter on the (second) resignation of Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Cindy Stevenson:
On Saturday morning at a meeting of the Jeffco School Board, nationally recognized superintendent Cindy Stevenson announced that she would resign her position at the end of the month instead of the end of June as originally planned. She stated the new board majority made it nearly impossible to focus on serving our community and Jeffco’s 85,000 students. Cindy Stevenson has been an outstanding superintendent for Jefferson County Public Schools for 12 years. Last year she announced her plans to retire at the end of this school year in June but clearly that wasn't soon enough for the new school board members. It's a shame she wasn't allowed to fulfill her term as previously agreed upon by the board. Her dedication and commitment to providing the highest quality education to our kids was an asset to our schools and our community. I'm proud to call her my friend and thankful for her public service.
