Coffman Warns Wadhams Not to Meddle

by: Colorado Pols

Thu Nov 08, 2007 at 09:58:40 AM MST

Republican leaders have failed in their attempt to dissuade Secretary of State Mike Coffman from running for congress in CD-6, but Coffman apparently isn't resting easy.

We hear that Coffman has told GOP Chair Dick Wadhams (who led the efforts to talk him out of running) that he will immediately resign from his SOS post if he gets any sense that the state party or other Republican leaders are trying to sabotage his campaign for congress in hopes of preserving his current seat.

You certainly can't blame Coffman for taking a hard stance with party officials. While Republicans are understandably concerned that they would lose the SOS office in the event of a Coffman congressional victory, Coffman himself has stepped aside once before for "the good of the party." As two-term state Treasurer, Coffman had long been positioning himself to run for governor in 2006, and he was briefly a candidate before Bob Beauprez kicked sand in his face and told him to get lost. Coffman backed down and ran for SOS instead, but what is the booby prize this time?

The seat in CD-6 is highly prized, because the heavy Republican voter registration advantage likely means that the winner will hold the seat for a long, long time. If Coffman skips this opportunity, what does he do next?

A better title for this might be:
The SOS vs. The SOB!

"But when I see a 9-11 victim family on television, or whatever, I'm just like, 'Oh, shut up!' I'm so sick of them because they're always complaining."  Glenn Beck

That's perfect.

Who would win in a cage match?

[ Parent ]
My money would be on Coffman
Being in the military and all...I would love to see those odds on the big line

[ Parent ]
although the Wad Man definitely has the weight advantage

What Balls!
Congrats Mikey.  A Republican who has the nerve to stand up to the Man with a little Penis.  Congrats.  Don't think Dick the bully will be bothering with this race any more.  What a move.  Of course Wadhams is afraid of Coffman resigning.  If Coffman does so, it will be a Democrat overlooking the next election and then Dick won't get away with any of his dirty tricks.

So..
So how do you know it's small? Just checking.

So Long...
Coffman is like 4ft 2in....Really you'd bet on that? So long Good Riddens is my vote!

I'd bet on anybody
with the balls to serve in Iraq over any chest-beating chicken hawk weasel. Although what would really be fun for CD6 Dems would be a three way race. The Rs would at least  have to spend real money here for a change.  We have a lot of indies here who might really like military man running as an independent.  The indies in HD38 really liked military Dem, now once again serving in Iraq, Joe Rice.  Now he's the first Dem ever to represent HD38 in the state house. It would at least make it interesting, for a change.

You might be surprised
You might want to ask the esteemed Secretary exactly how long his stint in Iraq was and what it was that he was really doing while there(running the elections in Iraq as he said during the SOS campaign is a big fat lie).

Dave Hnida just returned from actually serving in Iraq...he has a better basis for running on the guise of serving in Iraq than Coffman does.

What a vague, nasty charge
Pretty small of you.

I'm with "Another Skeptic" on this one
You've posted this vague stuff for some time now.  How to put this....

Put up or shut up.  If you have proof, please share.  Otherwise, you're speading a false rumor, and Pols has deleted such crap before.

Yeah, it's such a piece of cake being in Iraq
Now, being the son of a Vietnam-era fighter pilot: THAT takes balls!

Here are the opening lines of Ted Harvey's campaign website:

"As the son of a Vietnam era fighter pilot Senator Ted Harvey has an undying passion to preserve the freedoms and liberties that generations of men and women have sacrificially secured for this nation. Ted's father flew 110 missions in Vietnam; he was one of the first 20 men to fly twice the speed of sound..."

I can just see Harvey's campaign brain trust now: "Gee, we've got a pasty-faced doughboy who looks like the mortgage banker he is, versus a Marine who served in Iraq. What can we do to make our guy look heroic? I know: let's talk about his DAD!"

Not even George W. sank that low.

"Why not do the right thing for the American people, even though it's not exactly what we want." - Speaker Boehner

That's amazingly desparate.
The SON of a VN ERA pilot. Not even in VN.

Well, I'm the son of an actual wartime Coast Guardsman who spen three years on shipboard, one of them an illegal "Q ship," the other that would have been the lead landing craft carrier in the invasion of Japan.

Guess that makes me special.

NOT!  But more than that jerk.

"Politics determines who has the power, not who has the truth." Paul Krugman, 9/2010

And I'm the son of a wartime Navy doctor
Granted, he spent that war (Vietnam) entirely in the Atlantic, but hey, vote for me anyway!

"Thank you for putting your rank political motives on display." - ArapaGOP

[ Parent ]
You've got the strategy memo backwards
Republicans are supposed to do that kind of crap to democrats, not other republicans.  That's just dispicable.

Incidentally, I have no idea who Dave Hnida is; but if he's running for CD-6, he'd better tell somebody, preferably before the election.

Dr. Dave
Dave Hnida is an MD who is the medical advice guy on one of the local TV stations. Last I checked, he was a Democrat. He's the father of Katie Hnida, the former CU Buffs placekicker and sexual assault plaintiff.
