More on Tancredo Announcement

by: Colorado Pols

Mon Oct 29, 2007 at 13:49:39 PM MDT

  • The blog "Tancredo Watch" is officially signing off (h/t to the Rocky Mountain News).

  • State 38 points to numbers that say CD-6 may indeed be winnable for Democrats...but perhaps not until after 2010.

    Dem onslaught
This seat belongs to Democrats in 2010, no doubt. Republicans have lost their way. In Colorado the party has become discouraging, as in non-welcoming. It's gallop to the left blurs the lines, and turns off the base.

    Go-Rilla

The Republicans gallop to the left?

If we can take it in '08, we can keep it
But if we don't win in '08 the Repub who does win has a very good chance of hanging on to it. Incumbency is awfully powerful for political seats in this country.

    A Win in '08
David---So, we need another Tancredo, a tough conservative who'll inspire the base. Andrews? Wiens? Harvey? Kopp? Armstrong, Jr.? Who do you like?

    [ Parent ]
out of those names, John Andrews probably gives the Dems the best shot at winning C.D. 6
Look at how he performed when he ran statewide in '90!

    [ Parent ]
    In today's Rocky
    Andrews says he's not running:

    • Former state Senate President John Andrews: "I made my mind up some time ago that this wouldn't be for me, even if it opened up."

    Tough conservative?
Outside of immigration, can anyone remember anything else he stands for?

And if the voters of CD6 want a representative, they need to elect one that actually sits in chambers and votes.  No CO rep or senator has more N/A's next to his/her name in the Sunday Post voting review.

    Correction: STOOD for.

OK that's it - over and out at least under this pen name.

I know I may be guilty of "Mission Accomplished" - and I'm not actually taking down the blog for now - but I don't see how Tancredo can weasel out of this particular promise to his constituents.

And I have no interest in covering Tancredo as the Republican Al Sharpton in the 2008 presidential race. He's an inconsequential buffoon there. My only interest in the guy was when he was a never-ending embarrassment to me as my Congressman.

I welcome Mike Coffman (and Tom Wiens for that matter) as successors to Tancreod. Anyone with ethics and maturity. (I have to say I'm glad John Andrews isn't going to run.)

Probably a few light bulbs went on due to your tireless blogging, TW.
