Big Line Updated

  • by: Colorado Pols

We've updated The Big Line with a few new additions.

On the Governor Line, we've added Republican Sen. Greg Brophy. We don't have any specific information that Brophy may take a shot at the title, but he's gone out of his way of late to criticize Hickenlooper and has emerged as the most vocal member of the Senate Minority. Make no mistake: Brophy cannot beat Gov. John Hickenlooper, but he could certainly win a GOP primary and spend a year raising his name ID for something else down the line.

On the CD-3 Line, we've added both Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia and Sen. Gail Schwartz as potential challengers to incumbent Republican Rep. Scott Tipton. The inconsistent Tipton is a weird candidate in a strange district, but the fit has worked for two cycles. Both Garcia and Schwartz would be strong challengers for Tipton, however, and it's unlikely that there would be a Democratic primary fight.

  1. It's going to be hard to unseat Hickenlooper, but don't underestimate the goodwill be burned through with the gun grab. He has lost much of his bipartisan luster.

Yeah, Tipton, the "weird candidate" who keeps winning. At least Gail Schwartz doesn't pee in public! 🙂

  2. Once again, there is no gun grab.  No guns have been made illegal.  There is no legislation to confiscate anyone's guns. That what grab means.  It means to take, to snatch away.

Every time you say a gun grab is taking place or that any legislation passed includes a gun grab you are lying. Lying and a record of being wrong in all of your predictions is why you have no credidbility.  No credibility is why you don't upset us or stir us up or whatever it is you are aiming for as a troll.   It's just too impossible to take a word out of you seriously enough to be upset.  Once again, most incompetent troll ever.

    1. You need to wait to see how the mag ban is interpreted. You could be wrong. Also, Senate Bill 197 requires guns to be taken from people who have not been convicted of any crime. That IS a gun grab.

      1. SB 197 requires guns to be disposed of by the gun owner after a fair court hearing; it includes a solution whereby the gun owner can get their gun back once the court terminates the restraining order against them.

Surely you're not going to argue that people found in a court hearing to be risks for violent behavior against a spouse should be able to keep and even acquire more guns…

      2. And you, ArapG, need to wait and see before stating things you think will happen as fact. You clearly have no understanding of the boundary between speculation and fact.  Once again,  if it's just your opinion or even an expert's opinion it needs to be stated as opinion.  Stating opinion as fact is lying.  Period.

There is no legislation to take away the general publics' guns. There have long been legal avenues to take away certain people's guns ubder certain circumstances.. Look it up.

  3. Brophy has to reach higher. He is not likely to get an appt from Hick as a more reasonable R, like Al White, did. Not bright enough to get a job as a lobbyist. He has to reach higher or go to work.

  4. Brophy could certainly win a GOP primary? Not statewide. Well, though, looking at the GOP bench…hmm, maybe he could, after all.

The Third is strange? Ha. Without directly responding to the resident troll, I'd say that if either Schwartz or Garcia came out and admitted to peeing outdoors and made it a a staple of their stump speeches, either one could win the Third in a landslide.
