Contest: How Many Votes Will Tancredo Get in Iowa?

( - promoted by Colorado Pols)

UPDATE #2: M.E. Sprengelmeyer gives the Tancredo contest some love over at his blog "Back Roads to the White House"

UPDATE: The contest closes tonight at Midnight, so get those guesses in to the comments section below.

The Iowa Straw Poll takes place this Saturday, and it has traditionally served as a good barometer of what will happen in the Iowa Caucus in January.

With candidates scrambling to turn people out to the (straw) polls, including offering Capitol/capital tours, we thought it would be a good time for a little contest...

Colorado Pols :: Contest: How Many Votes Will Tancredo Get in Iowa?
As always, we play by Price is Right rules (closest without going over), and the winning entry will receive a free small button ad on Colorado Pols for one week; you can do whatever you want with the ad, with a few exceptions (we're not advertising your favorite porn site, for example).

So here's the question:

How many votes will Colorado's own Tom Tancredo receive at the Iowa Straw Poll on Saturday?

Hint: There were 23,685 votes cast in the last GOP Iowa Straw Poll in 1999. There may be as many as 50,000 votes cast this year.

The contest closes at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, so get those votes in. We'll announce the winner as soon as the final Iowa Straw Poll results are made public. Submit your entry in the comments section below.

Since 8,500 is taken, I'll up my guess to slightly over 17%.

Ron Paul will win more.

I'm going higher:
12% or 6000, if there are 50000 participants.

Lowballing it - 500 votes
Sorry, Tom, but you're truly not important.

Didn't you watch the debate (Bush love-fest) on Sunday?

Tancredo admitted his greatest mistake inn life was that it took him so long to find Jesus Christ as his lord and savior.

Intertia
Let me get this straight ... the Iowa straw poll is a good barometer of what happens in the Iowa Caucus, which then determines the party frontrunners, which then determine the nominee.  The question is, is there anything to the Presidential race besides just inertia?

He's been pushing
I am going to say 4287

2762
I bet he gets 5-7% of the votes.

Tancredo
888

I was going to guess 666, but that seemed too obvious.

ONE DOLLAR!!!
Oh shoot...wrong game...  :P

1843
Didnt see one that was close. Dont want to be the one dollar over guy.

My guess
The numbe 8829 comes to mind...N/C

I thought maybe this was like "The Price is Right," where if everyone else goes over I win.

It is...
Someone else said "one dollar", but then mentioned "wrong game".  So you've got your one vote bid in by my reckoning.

Apparently I jumped the gun on that one...
I should have read the other posts first. I'll get you yet Dabee :)

so proud of our own homegrown nutcase...
Wonkette has a diary that has this exceprt about Looney Tunes Tancredo's Council Bluffs office...

"According to this charming pre-school window display at Tom Tancredo’s campaign office in Council Bluffs, the Illegal Mexicans have raped 17,576 white children since 9/11, which is possibly the most ridiculous combination of fear-mongering statistics we’ve ever seen. In other words, Tom Tancredo will probably be our next president."

"There are a lot of reasons not to elect me." Mitt Romney in a moment of clarity

"I'm Mitt Romney and yes, Wolf, that's also my first name," Willard Mitt Romney demonstrating 'policy flexibility.'

I do; I REALLY hope that he gets more than 10K.
look, I really want him to stay in this. Then hopefully he will walk away from this district. As it is, if he gets 1K or 2, then he will come back to here even though he said that he would not.

I prefer the "u" in honour as it seems to be missing these days.

Iowa Straw Poll
8500

Probably not a good idea to underestimate the appeal of the politics of fear to the GOP

what do I win if I predicted the correct number of votes?  A toaster oven?  An all-expenses paid trip to Ames, Iowa?  A mug with Tancredo's face on it?

We'll see

" The webinar is free, however, there are only 250 spaces available "

Some douche

Canines you took my guess
The year of the first illegal alien, Some Italian named Columbus.

Instead I'll go with 17,576. The number of children only Tanky claims have been raped by illegals in some signage at his Ames office.

http://wonkette.com/...

1492...
It was also the year that the Spaniards kicked their longtime invaders, the Moors, out of Europe and back to Africa. Spain, also, expelled the Jews from the country that same year. Seems an appropriate number.

[ Parent ]
Wasn't illegal
There were no laws against Columbus landing.

Keep in mind
That Bush won in 1999 with 7400 votes

I say he gets 5 percent of pols' anticipated turnout.

AND THE WINNER IS....
Envelope please.....

Welcome to Pols ramya
Please note that you just commented on a diary that's well over a year old. I don't know how you found it (google, perhaps) but a good rule of thumb is: Don't comment on diaries that aren't on the homepage. No one will read them (except weirdos like me who pay attention to the "recent comments" column).
