Washington Post:

Obama and Roberts will repeat the process again Monday in a public celebration at the Capitol. The Constitution mandates that presidential terms begin on Jan. 20, and it is traditional when the day falls on a Sunday that the public ceremony take place the next day.

The brief ceremony — from the family’s entrance to the handshakes and kisses that marked departure took less than a minute and a half — followed a morning where the president took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery and worshiped at a historic African-American church.

But it’s the one that counts, folks.

      1. and I am so sure your beloved portrait is of the mythical white Aryan with a sandy brown mane and mellow blue eyes — right. As lng as you’re makng it up why not make sure it’s a face you love.

    1. nah — regardless of the party there’s not one Pol I’d ever hang up on a wall and as much as I love the idea of Obama I got a big problem with Presidential-sanctioned drone assassinators not giving folks their due process. I guess for some folks that’s worthy of idolization?

  1. One can only hope Brophy’s recent spate of nonsensical tweets and moronic statements portend an ambitious attempt to move up into the statewide political rare air.

His gooberish attacks on Sandra Fluke last spring, his never ending redneck pontifications about shootin’ up that there AR15, and now his implication by design of the horror show malkin’s accusation that “the press is embellishing the First Family going to church” are all shoutouts to the 3 copperhead constituent groups the intellectually and current events knowledge challenged hayseed needs to be competitive in an increasingly idealogically closed off redleg primary process.

Brophy’s “trolling” the red base, which is politics speak for wearing garish lipstick, loud makeup, and an orange/blue/gold colored clown wig, and jumping up and down, screaming “look at me”. The atmosphere of the United States Senate might be too big for the likes of a cousin high pockets like Brophy, but should oil’s boy cory jump to the Senate run against Udall, Brophy offers the snake handling prerequisites for another red run at CD4.

    Interesting.

    1. Hah, Goober Brophy on the national stage? That slack-jawed yokel taking part in a Congressional Freshman photo would be a prize. Good fer him if he’s stupid enough to run but I have to think the connected folks in his district know better than to put that ass in amongst the learned.

  2. Wow. First I’ll freely admit to being disgusted with the Sunday talking head demonstrations, usually catching This Week with George and Meet the press (old habits die hard). But todays shows demonstrated a new low even for the “beltway talking heads”.

When Republicans get their way, they are thought to be united, lock step, disciplined, tough and skilled negotiators and skilled politicians, when President Obama become tough, he’s really just mean to Republicans. If the Republican teabaggers cause a shutdown, it’ll be Obama’s fault I suppose.

    That darned liberal media again.

    1. It’s been that way since I can remember, both in life and watching politics.

Conserves are usually about the least empathetic or sympathetic among us. “I got mine, you go fuck yourself” is pretty much hard wired in the pinko.

When it comes to earned benefits, the redleg scoops up every available crumb, but decries the same thing as an “entitlement” for someone else.

As for unified, together, lockstep, disciplined, again it’s a virtue for the copperhead, but a sin for the Democratic side.

It’s just the way it is. The redleg wouldn’t be a redleg if it thought any different.
