Seven state GOP Senators voted against civility? What's up with that?

(“Civility,” apparently, is for wussies – promoted by Colorado Pols)

On Tuesday, the Colorado Senate passed a resolution:

That we, the members of the Colorado General Assembly, agree to conduct ourselves at all times in a manner so as to reflect credit on the Colorado General Assembly and its two houses and to inspire the confidence, respect, and trust of the public in the laws, the Colorado General Assembly, and democratic government.

There was more to it, and you can read it here, but you get the idea.

You’d think a “no” vote by seven Republican Senators, including Senate Minority Leader Cadman, would catch the attention of the Capitol press corps.

What’s up with a no vote on a bipartisan civility resolution?

The No’s were: Scheffel, Baumgardner, Brophy, Cadman, Crowder, Grantham, and Lambert.

  1. would vote on a resolution to refrain from knocking little old ladies out of wheel chairs?  Hope some enterprising reporter asks them about their votes.

I’d have voted against it too.  I’m a First Amendment Absolutist (I think people ought to be able to cry fire in a crowded theater).  I think this is nothing but an invitation to infringe on a legislator’s right to express his/her opinion.  To me it’s for voters to decide whether their representative is too rude.  And besides, some politicians I know have amazingly thin skins and get upset about all sorts of petty crap.

  7. El Paso County – where are your manners?

    Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) announced plans Monday to boycott President Obama’s 2012 State of the Union address. Remember that rude snub from El Paso County’s congressman last year?

    Owen Hill excluded (thanks for the yes vote), I find that Cadman, Lambert, and Grantham(partial) are El Paso County senators and. sadly, No votes.

    Shame on you.
