Pols Meet Up At Rosa Linda's

(Bumping this up since it’s in two days! – promoted by ProgressiveCowgirl)

Hey, aren’t we about due for a meet up?  Where better than at Rosa Linda’s.  Just the place to relax and have a post-election get together.

I’ve never been there, but I hope the beer is cold and the tamales hot.  The first $100 is on me.

Will Saturday, Nov. 10th work, or does anyone have another preference?

Lunch time?

    1. And as MADCO indicated, we should wait until after the election so as not to interfere with GOTV activities.  And the conversations will be a lot more interesting as a post-election recap.

Let’s see what the consensus is.  That’s why I wanted to give plenty of head’s up.

    1. Is it a good-sized space for what might be a large Pols turn-out?

(And will they mind if we loudly say some untoward things about Romney, or will we have to whisper?)

      1. I’ve been meaning to go there for a long time — friends keep telling me about it. I am a pescatarian (a vegetarian who occasionally eats fish) and I have heard they have a wonderful vegetarian and vegan menu, in addition to the best nachos in Colorado.Their food has won a ton of awards, too. http://www.rosalindasmexicanca… It’s been on my list of “places I have to try” for months. The fact that they are personal friends with the Durans is just icing on the sopapilla!

I love restaurants that are run by families who have long-time roots in the city. The Aguirres are quiet, non-politically active people who treat others kindly. They are Mormon, so I would imagine Romney’s crew assumed they were far right-wingers. Those who know them say they are neither right nor left — they are just community based. Each year, they feed thousands of people for free at Thanksgiving. They really “walk their talk” as Christians. It’s not just a political tool for them. http://www.rosalindasmexicanca

Good people. Good food. Excellent choice.

      2. Not a big bar area. More a dining experience so if Pols meet there it’s going to be a sit down and chat and nibble kind of gig.

Good salsa/chips/guac, chicken tacos, napolito burrito, chili rellanos and very good margs, all different flavors and the regular margs are smooth, not too tart and pack a wallop. The mango margs are good too, but we usually stick with the regulars.

  1. Looks like we have a fairly even split between either the 10th or the 17th.

I can’t make anything earlier, and anything later will bump into the holidays.

    Let your voices be heard!

  2. Thanks PCG — I was just getting around to refreshing this post.

I wanted to get a final head count so that I can update the reservation (currently for 10).

    As Car31 indicated:

    There’s plenty of space

Not a big bar area. More a dining experience so if Pols meet there it’s going to be a sit down and chat and nibble kind of gig.

It’s not a noisy sports bar — it’s a nice family restaurant.  Mother cooks, brother is the bartender, daughter is hostess/waitress, and I believe the father also serves.

Weather should be a little chilly, and possibly blustery, but no snow in the forecast.

Please reconfirm/add your name to the list and I’ll ask for more space if needed.  The open dining area is easily reconfigured for more people, assuming there isn’t a Saturday afternoon rush of ‘civilians’.

Should make for a nice leisurely lunch experience with new and old acquaintances.

        1. http://www.9news.com/news/arti

A WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect through 6 a.m. Sunday from the Flattops Mountains and the Sawatch mountain range to the Grand Mesa and San Juans.  North of Crested Butte 8 to 16 inches of snow is forecast, with 10 to 20 inches in mountain areas south of Crested Butte.  Southwesterly winds from 40 to 50 mph will frequently cause visibility to drop to zero in these areas.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for lower elevations of the Sawatch Range, the La Garita Mountains and Uncomphagre Plateau from Friday afternoon until early Sunday morning for 4 to 8 inches of total snowfall.

Snow in mountain areas from Vail Pass to the northwestern mountains will get 7 to 14 inches of new snow, as will the eastern San Juans and La Garitas

We’ll understand if you choose to stay on the West side of the pass.

          Be safe.

    1. I posted a new diary with a poll asking “are you coming” with just “yes” and “no” as options, and requested that people comment if they were bringing anyone with them.

I won’t be joining you, alas. But I’ll drink a toast to y’all from home.

      1. because, while I have my truck, I always like to green it up a bit and also enjoy your company.  You want to pick me up about 12:30?  And do you remember my address?

  3. we both plan to be there.

Since we are coming down from the high country (Somalia Springs,) we’ll run errands in River City that can’t be done in the boondocks, like swinging by the Luggage Doctor, then come by for lunch.

I’ll put name tags in the buggy, in case anyone else doesn’t immediately recognize everyone else.

Golly, I went to Dave Anderson’s election night party, and before I could introduce myself to him, he, who I’ve never met before, introduced me to the folks surrounding him.

He must have been in line at the Post Office that afternoon, reading my bio on the wall there.

But other than WLJ, MADCO, and Danny, who I’ve had earlier dealings with, and that Voyeur guy who had his mug shot in the paper a thousand times, I may not recognize anyone, and vice versa.

  4. I figure that’s close enough to the headcount so far.  Given that the dining room is pretty flexible in arranging tables, we should be able to accommodate more or less that number.

The mom sounded pretty happy when I told her the number grew from just 10 😉

Bring your appetite as well as your thoughts about the next 2-4 years!

  5. It was great to meet Caroman, ProgressiveCowgirl and Mr. & Mrs. Barron X for the first time.  Canines reminded me that we’d already met at a previous meetup, and of course Voyaguer and I go back a few years.

Interesting discussions and the usual snarky comments about politicians, other polsters, etc. ensued!

Rosa Linda’s was a great location for a meetup, and of course the family and food were terrific. I would heartily recommend it to anyone.

      1. And yet almost all rock stars have amazing hair.  Thus my choice to give up the guitar to become a blogger.

Thanks to all that came, and especially to you Caroman for sharing your amazing campaign mementos and stories!

      2. again the shame those of us with Fabio-like hair must endure daily.  oh why am I so damned … damned with flowing healthy flossy locks of spun gold.

Here i feared my snark, my Progressive bearing, or my still glowing hope for Romanoff would prove my ouster from this small community, little did I know I should fear the un-maned.

  6. Crummy I missed it but I hadn’t checked in for a couple of days. My partner’s birthday was today, and she played hooky from work yesterday so I didn’t go online at all. Count me in next time. I’d love to meet you all.
