Expanding access to health care? Thanks Obamacare!

(We’re suckers for chutzpah. – promoted by Colorado Pols)

Why do some people treat Obamacare like a 4-letter word?  It is a 9-letter word that stands for more kids covered by health insurance, better access for women to health care and Congress having the same health care as the rest of us. That deserves a big thank you.

Today, the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative and ProgressNow Colorado Education launched “Thanks Obamacare,” an online campaign highlighting Obamacare and the ways it helps America’s families, individuals and small businesses. Visit www.thanksobamacare.org to check out the new campaign. Spoiler Alert: care wins out.

On the website, You’ll also find the top 10 reasons to Thank Obamacare.  These are the things that people are not talking about enough, like that Congress will have the same health care as the rest of us, insurance companies can’t kick sick people off coverage and people can stay on their parents’ health insurance until they turn 26.

The truth is, Obamacare lowers the cost of care, expands access to care and improves the quality of care. We want to take ‘Obamacare’ back from the anti-reform naysayers because the reality is Obamacare has been a huge boost to families across the U.S.  It is making it easier and more affordable for families and to get the healthcare they need, when they need it.

You can join the happy conversation on Twitter at #ThanksObamacare or by following @ThanksObamacare.

There is a lot to Thank Obamacare for.  So let’s get to it. Share the video, tweet, like us on Facebook.

      1. None needed. Like recalling Gessler, local liberals are free to engage in all of the hopeless lost causes they wish. You couldn’t salvage President Jimmy Malaise Carter, and you won’t salvage “Obamacare.” The public has decided how they feel about Obamacare. They have rejected it. This ship has sailed.

        1. Want to place a bet on the complete repeal of the Affordable Care Act?

Ain’t gonna happen. Republicans won’t even have the stones to repeal the mandate. Insurance companies won’t let them.

        2. As expected, no Repubs ever answered when I posted to ask why Repubs are declaring the individual mandate the end of freedom, blah blah — when in fact, the individual mandate was a Republican idea, including from multiple current R presidential candidates. Please see the below short post, and answer, or STFU:

  1. For the record, you only need one http per link.

    Liked and followed.

Thanks to Obamacare, a friend of mine was able to get back on his parents’ insurance long enough to get a painful dental problem fixed that had been preventing him from working due to making it very hard to talk for long periods. He is now gainfully employed. Unemployment rate minus one, #thanksobamacare!

  2. I think it may have been yesterday, when some were  wondering where the Borg Brat had disappeared to? Me neither. Those were the days, my friends….

  3. Thanks, Obamacare!

The Obama Administration has finally bowed to the inevitable and acknowledged that it can’t figure out any way to implement its fatally-flawed government program for voluntary, long-term care insurance. Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-ND) had labeled the so-called CLASS Act (Community Living Assistance Services and Support), “a Ponzi scheme of the first order, the kind of thing that Bernie Madoff would have been proud of,” when it was first drafted two years ago as part of health reform. But it turns out that not even Madoff would be able to sell it to gullible investors.

Nevertheless, even after the office of the actuary for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services concluded in April 2010 that, “there is a very serious risk that the program would become unsustainable as a result of adverse selection by participants,” and almost all independent outside observers questioned its actuarial soundness, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) pretended that it could craft a plan to launch CLASS and keep it solvent for 75 years (as required by an amendment to the CLASS provision inserted two years ago by then-Senator Judd Gregg).

Finally ending several weeks of rumors and leaks that the HHS office to implement the CLASS program was about to close, Secretary Kathleen Sebelius issued a letter to congressional leaders.  “I do not see a viable path forward to CLASS implementation at this time,” she wrote. But note that this statement only classified the program as brain dead, without formally pulling the plug and burying it.

    1. Longterm care is not health care.

Different purpose, different place and apparently the Obama administration pulled the plug on the long term care long (no pun intended).

I guess it is easy to get confused when GOP values are: fuck the poor, fuck the old, fuck the middle class and kill brown people.  Oh yeah I forgot about bring about a fundamentalist theocracy (as long as it doesn’t interfere with corporate profits).

      Carry on buffoon.

  4. Thanks to the Republicans who coined the term Obamacare. It is a term that will resonate with the American people for decades to come. It will help to define this President’s legacy and the failures of Republican Party leadership. Let’s continue to remind them of this failure. At some point I would love to see Obamacare become the official name for the nation’s healthcare program.
