Focus on the Family Political Group Changes Name

  • by: Colorado Pols

As The Denver Post reports:

Colorado Springs-based Focus on the Family Action, the lobbying organization created in 2004 by Focus on the Family ministry founder James Dobson, today changed its name and logo to CitizenLink.

Dobson set up Focus on the Family Action as a nonprofit organization legally separate from his media ministry on child rearing.

Focus on the Family Action was a 501(c)(4), the type of organization that could carry out the kind of direct political advocacy Dobson said was necessary to fend off “the attack from social and political liberals that is tearing families apart.”

From the beginning, some confusion about the exact identities and missions of the two similarly named organizations has existed in the general public and media, said Tom Minnery, Focus vice president of public policy.

CitizenLink is an okay name, but we would have gone with “The SpongeDobs.”

  1. Changing it’s name to “Xe”. probably for the same reasons.

“Citizenlink” does sound like a gay dating web site… possibly that’s the point?

    Focus members “coming out” finally?

      1. “links” is German for “left.”  You may be on to something.

Makes me think of sausage though (sausage link), maybe because it’s dinner time, but not generally an association I want with my politics (as in, “sausages and laws…”)
