With constant calls from some on the Right about Jane Norton being this “establishment candidate”, a quasi-McCain (minus the inane “my friends”, of course) figure propped up by the Washington elites, it is interesting to note how very often the arrows fall flat.
For example, take the latest from the Senate Conservatives Fund, where a quite conservative Balanced Budget Amendment and Earkmark Moratorium sees growing growing from US Senators, including liberal Republicans like Saxby Chambliss, moderates like John Ensign and Tom Coburn, and that paragon of leftism, Jim DeMint. https://senateconservatives.com…
If you didn’t catch it, look at their American Conservative Union scores; with the exception of freshmen LeMieux and Risch (who obviously don’t have scores yet), their average 2008 score was 85. Obviously peons of Chomsky.
And to doubtless astonishment, it is that faux Reaganite Norton, not the “true conservative” candidates, who has affirmed her desire for both measures to move forward. https://www.fortmorgantimes.com… https://www.janenortonforcolora…
She joins other Senate candidates, including Nevada’s Danny Tarkanian and Curtis Coleman from Arkansas, in a list of US Senate candidates who have lended their support to the idea.
Norton continues to prove she is conservative enough and is going just far enough to win the primary without jeopardizing the general. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I am supporting Romanoff, thus mark this as the transition from reporting to opinion piece…..
With the political climate and the recent Rasmussen poll https://www.rasmussenreports.co… showing Norton 14-points up on Bennet, wouldn’t it be smarter for Democrats to support Romanoff, who is polling far better? Even though AR is 7-points behind Norton, he continues to close the gap with each poll.
Romanoff also doesn’t have the “insider” problem of both Bennet and Norton……just a thought.
