by: Colorado Pols

Mon Nov 02, 2009 at 08:00:00 AM MST

As always, please vote based on what you think will happen, not on who you would vote for or which candidate you support personally. Think of it this way: If you had to bet the deed to your house, who would you pick?

Colorado Pols :: Pols Poll 2: CD-4
Poll
Who Will Be Elected to Congress in CD-4 in 2010?
Betsy Markey (D)
Cory Gardner (R)
Diggs Brown (R)

Cory's crapped the bed
He isn't getting traction or gaining donors where they really matter -- Larimer & Weld Counties. Q3 can only be called a miserable let down. Pretty soon he's got to go back into session which really screws up your fundraising operation, and Diggs is about to get home to a hero's welcome for single-handedly thwarting Al Qaeda's attempt to start a McDonald's franchise in Stuttgart.

I think the NRCC may start looking around again.

As for Tom Lucero. Why, Tom?

"At times one remains faithful to a cause only because its opponents do not cease to be insipid." - Nietzsche

I didn't see Cory's name on the "gaggle" (to use Frank Rich's term in yesterday's N.Y. Times) of Colo. legislative wingnuts endorsing Doug Hoffman
Will the base be let down?  He has also been only lukewarm in his adherence to the Birthers and their beliefs?  Is it possible that Cory is RINO?  Or attempting to pass as RINO?

Unless Markey makes a series of mistakes, I think this is her election to lose.
Gardner's fundraising has been disappointing and I think Markey will be able to paint him as a Tea Party type, which will not go over well with enough of the district to put Gardner over the top.  Ditto for national GOP money--as the GOP puts money into the race, so will the Democratic party.

Also, Markey has been paying serious and appropriate attention to the district, and is seen as an effective Representative, at least according to people I've talked to in the district.  Also, as noted elsewhere, the district has slowly been turning Democratic.  When you put everything together, the signs seem to point to a Markey victory.

Discipline without purpose is tyranny.
