What you can do to fight back this week (February 20)

  • by: ProgressNow Colorado

It’s a short but very busy week for the resistance in Colorado. Let’s get right to it.

Tonight, Rep. Mike Coffman is holding a town hall meeting at Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village. After Republicans in Washington once again failed to pass immigration reform last week, Coffman has a lot to answer for. Especially because he promised to help Dreamers by the DACA deadline on March 5th. This will also be the first chance for residents of Coffman’s district to get an explanation for Coffman’s vote for the Trump tax cuts that will balloon the deficit and lead to huge cuts in Social Security and Medicare.

Join us outside at 5:30PM as Colorado progressives lay out the facts against Coffman.

What: Press Conference Responds To Closed-Door Coffman Town Hall
Where: Cherry Creek High School, 9300 E Union Ave, Greenwood Village
When: Tuesday, February 20 at 5:30PM

Tomorrow, Colorado Republicans are trying to repeal Colorado’s common-sense gun safety laws—just days after another tragic school shooting that left 17 Americans dead. Our friends at Colorado Ceasefire are organizing a demonstration outside the Colorado Capitol against any attempt to weaken Colorado gun laws, and then they’ll head inside to testify.

What: Lie-In at the State Capitol
Where: Colorado State Capitol, 200 E Colfax, Denver
When: Wednesday, February 21 at 11:45AM

What: Tell State Lawmakers: No More Thoughts and Prayers

And click here to make a donation to support survivors and families of victims of the Parkland shooting.

Thursday: Once again, Colorado Republicans have introduced legislation that would either ban abortion outright or impose so many needless restrictions on abortion that it might as well be banned. This year, join with NARAL Pro Choice Colorado, Planned Parenthood Votes Colorado, the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR), and women from across the state to stand up to the fringe right and testify against these terrible bills.

What: Rally to protect abortion access!
Where: Colorado State Capitol, 200 E Colfax, Denver
When: Thursday, February 22 at 12:15PM
